Description
Kane extends 4 years x 8m a year to finalize deal with Edmonton.

Thoughts on the trade with Edmonton?

I would sell Kane and Toews to get a lot of nice pieces moving forward. I think this sets them up quite nicely.

I didn't fill out the rest of the roster. I am well aware.

Sorry, that's a 'No' from Edmonton.

It fixes a lot of holes upfront in the short term, but kane for 5 (1 + 4) more years when he's turning 33 in sept is a scary proposition. Not to mention that most likely means we can't afford Toews extension OR to re-up, revamp, reinforce our D and goaltending.

So all that, for a year rental of Toews, and what will be an overpriced Kane and nothing but bottomfeeding D and goalies. Yikes

Still fascinated by the Canes being the default ‘anywhere that wants him’ team. Anaheim is like 3 seconds faster to chose.

I'm a Hawks fan and I can't see Edmonton adding any big-ticket players given that McDavid Draisaitl and Nurse currently account for 37% of Edmonton's cap. Adding a Kane (who will command north of $6MM at least with any extension)) would push them near 50% of the cap for 4 players. That isn't a good way to build your team.

If you're going to pick somewhere to dump a center, shouldn't it be the Rangers? Why is there an obsession to dump a player "anywhere" in Carolina?

Carolina is near the top of the list and they are a contender and they are more probable to trade for him than Anaheim is.

It could be Carolina or ANYWHERE else. Don't put too much thought into it.
