Bob Offseason

Created by: TM11
Team: 2022-23 Washington Capitals
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 19, 2022
Published: Jun. 19, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I was on the trend we need a Center if Backy is out until I realized we don't want to trap McMichael or Lap down behind another 30-year-old center anymore. I think a Highend Wing, More realalistically Palat, Copp, Nichushkin or someone in the 5-7 Million range, However the Idea of Foresberg back is fun

Additional Details:
Honestly Intrigued about what the price would be for Retained Bob, Does anyone has a clue. Is he free because FLA needs him gone? is this fair or do we take it like he's in a decent contract?

I would want Florida to add a significant sweetener for taking back Bob, even with 4m retained. I would think of it as 6x4 could probably get you Kuemper. To do the panthers the favor of taking on an older, at this point in their careers worse goalie and clearing out 6m for them to upgrade the roster elsewhere I would ask for one of Bennet, Weegar, or Lundell as an add on. Vanacek or Samsonov going back is fine

Bennett would be the obvious of the 3 in this situation.

I can't think of any reason I'd want Bob if I'm being honest. Not at that age, not at that salary even with retention, and especially not at that term. I'd rather rock with one of Sam or Vitek with a cheap backup.

I agree FLA would have to really make it worth our while to take him

Yeah We are like in a Limbo because if you sign any of the big FA centers we block Lap or Mcmichael from overtaking that 2C spot from them which I think needs to and will happen in the next year. Lappiere looked unreal at camp last year and solid in his NHL games. I think this last year of Junior for him hell come in and honestly be nasty for us and think he would finish the year as our 2nd center, we just dont want to lock ourselves into long term deals at a position where all of our top prospects play

Makes sense, I’m in favor of trading LaPierre and picks for a top 6 center. McMichael at 3C wouldn’t be an issue. Need to “contend” now
