Why would Samsonov sign that contract? Plus he's not available and that package wouldn't make him so either.

I'm not sure if you did it on purpose or had a typo, but I love your random 9's at the end of AAVs and Comrie's completely random number lol

He’s available, just not for a package like that. More likely he’s part of a package for a better goalie, or if they find a starter another way then something like Sammy straight up for Puljujarvi. Don’t see them trading him for a package of meh pieces though.

I wonder who would be interested in taking on Bob at 5m and what they would expect the other way. Haven't looked at the Caps, situation but I wonder if he would be a good fit with Samsonov.

I think the Caps would rather move Vancek if they are getting someone who needs a tandem, although every team is moving towards that supposedly anyways.

Some Caps fans like the idea of something like Vanecek and Eller for Bob at 50% and Bennett, which would solve the starting goalie and Backstrom replacement problems in one move. Personally, Bob’s long track record of struggling in the playoffs makes him too risky for me.

I agree that if they only move one it’s likely Vanecek. He seems like he’s topped out as a guy who can give you league average goaltending for 30-40 games a year but will never be a true starter. Sammy shows flashes, and a lot of Caps fans (myself included) think the Caps current goaltending coach sucks and a better one could turn Sammy into a true starter, so keeping him as the backup leaves that possibility open.

Mikheyev and Lybushkin are underpaid. Engvall is overpaid and isn't a 2nd line player. Imo
