Just because he was taken 10th last year doesn't make his value a top 10 pick. My goodness. His value surely hasn’t stayed as a top 10 pick after the awful season he had this year. The reality is your GM made an awful reach of a pick and he’s nowhere near top 10 pick value. That’s the reality.

I didn't like the pick either.

But we still took him 10th overall.

Like everybody else here, you're also overlooking the fact that Ottawa is giving up the #7 pick as well.

Unsigned RFA’s don’t have a lot of value.

all signs from the team and Bratt’s agent point to a long term deal, there is no sign of strain between Bratt and the Devils, and NJ has the car to qualify and match and Offer Sheet.

And that’s without pointing out he had some of the best underlyings in the league last year along with a 70 point season.

Bratt is younger and better than Fiala. Whoever is picked at 7 will likely never be as good as bratt

        debatable

Because I’ve been too pre-occupied going back and forth with you on Boucher’s value. And just because you took him 10th overall doesn’t make him have that value. If I took
Davis Burnside in the 1st round this year that doesn’t make him have a 1st round value in a trade around the league.

I would be interested in seeing what LA or Buffalo fans think of these trades seem like NJD fans not a fan of trading Bratt and Sens fans think its too much for him Islander fans think its too much as well how about we swap out Wahlstrom for Raty? Any trade involving Bratt would come with an extension in place.

this is true look at the Wild when they took Filp Johansson in the first round and they never signed him....his value is crap even though he was drafted in the first round...

If you draft someone in the Top 10, you don't just give up on him when it hasn't even been a year since the draft.

Johansson was a 1st round pick from 4 years ago.

Boucher was a 1st round pick from last year.

        There's a difference.

That Kings deal can maybe be a start for talks. Maybe add Zacha and Kings add another piece like Walker, Andersson or Lemieux.
Or Kings add Petersen and NJ adds Blackwood…
Idk but these teams can help each other.

Bratt is not worth 2 top ten picks.

        Try again.

Bratt isn't netting a top ten pick plus, let alone a top ten pick.

        I would personally do it.

I want to be more competitive NOW (actually we SHOULD have been since 2020-21, but DOHrion)

I see Boucher as a late first round pick value though so I wouldn't mind paying this for Bratt, he's very dynamic and plays 2-way hockey

Boucher should have been a 4th rd pick

Don't have to be hyperbolic to "prove a point"

Tyler Boucher was ranked 29th OA on Bob McKenzie's list, the list that matters. His value went down since the draft but 1st round keep value until further down the road...

The 2021 draft was on July 23rd... relax a bit, and I say this as probably the biggest Dorion & Boucher pick critic

        Quoting: Db1899
        Ridley Greig

It becomes an easy no then. It's not that the values would be way off but I wouldn't give up a piece like Greig on top of the 7th OA pick

7th OA + Lassi Thomson + Filip Gustavsson is my proposal

        Quoting: AndrewLadd
Don’t be ridiculous, that’s like saying Nail Yakupov still has value because he was a first overall pick.

Ridiculous argument. Yakupov was drafted 10 years ago. Boucher, not even 1 year ago.

        Quoting: Db1899
He has less than a 50% chance of making the NHL. Take what you can get for him.

Bad asset managers do exactly like that.

Why is the Buffalo trade worth way lesser value than the other ones?

not sure, what should it be? Throw in Rosen or Portillo?
