Two things here.

1. My gut says Kane will win his wrongful dismissal grievance and won't be available to sign anywhere.

2. IF, the Kane doesn't win his grievance and does resign with the Oilers, they are not trading for Anderson at all as they would have no need to.

Josh Anderson the last two seasons: 121 games, 56 points.
Jesse Puljujarvi the last two seasons: 120 games, 61 points.

Anderson is 4 years older than Puljujarvi and is due $30.5 million over the balance of his contract (about $22 million to the Oilers); Puljujarvi is unsigned but won't cost 80% of Anderson's cap hit, but the retention cancels that out. One can argue that Puljujarvi's stats are inflated by playing with McDavid and Draisaitl, but even so, I'm not convinced that this exchange is in Edmonton's long-term interests.

Montreal would win this trade but they can bait more value for Anderson from someone else
