Crouse is looking like a bust and although I like strome I wouldn't give up Coots for him. Trevor lewis is bad I watch a lot of Kings games out here and he isn't worth Schenn and Kempe is a huge risk because it's low he will ever turn into a player like Schenn. The 3/4 lines are pretty weak and would get rolled over (IMO). I think we could find better value if we are moving Schenn/Coots - neither of which I'd want to move. Jake should be moved before them.

This isn't retooling. This is completely doing away with all of our depth and replacing it with dreck. We'd be picking in the top 5 with this roster except we'd earn it this time because we'd be terrible

Why Jake? He is still board line elite and just an well-rounded player. Schenn is a PP specialist, who is a clear liability on defense.

I watched almost every game last season and saw a team that was so offensively disfunctional on the ice for a majority of the games it's time to look at the players we have. The moves I would like to see is just moving expendable pieces. Read, Schenn, Filppula, Manning, and Raffl are not long term pieces to this team in my mind. Couturier, possibly, but if he has alot of value out there why not explore it. I may have undersold a deal for him.

Alot of people blame the coach for this team's rut.....problem is it's been the same rut for 3-4 different coaches with alot of the same players...why not blame the players they're playing the game, not the coaches.

Not many teams if any can afford to take on Jake's contract. $8 million is a hard pill to swallow for 7 more years...

Plus I am envisioning moves that will open up cap space. I'm curious to see what Hextall can/would do when he has more then $4 million in cap space to play with in an offseason.

Hextall has already come out multiple times and said that he doesn't like to spend on huge contracts in free agency. Also, have you seen the coaches/personnel on the team? The D in Lavi's last year was too bad to properly execute his run and gun game plan. Berube was just a terrible coach who horribly mismanaged Mason. Hak's first season was saved by Mason and an absolutely unreal run from a rookie defenseman and this year, his low-to-high offensive zone scheme didn't serve this roster well at all. G and Jake are both players that work best off the rush and that is clearly evidenced by their work together in previous years. Telling them to get low and send it to the D and then get to the net isn't how they're going to be successful. Take your two best players out of their comfort zone all year and the team is going to suffer. Not to mention Hak's questionable at best lineup decisions (Schultz over Ghost, VandeVelde over TK) throughout the year and his interesting goalie handling. Add all of that up and the coach does shoulder some of the blame for not putting the team in the best position to succeed every night.

He is a very good player but Schenn is a good player in his own right. I wouldn't consider Jake elite. He has the strength to be effect on the boards, but Schenn at $5M is worth the contract and honestly that is what jake should be making.
