I agree wholeheartedly. That was my conclusion too. The only other possibility was the Ducks, and they would have to give up all their good players in return. I threw and Anders Lee for the Breadman scenario out there and got blasted. My contention is that the Rangers have no chance if they continue with the Panarin and Trouba contracts. Crosby 8.7M - 3 cups aka Malkin $9.5M - Ovey $9.5M - 1 cup. All players with 10-10+ contracts (there are currently 16) - no cups. Kane and Toews won there 3 cups when they were making LT $10M. And then there is Trouba at $8M. Fox at $9M is justified. Trouba at $6M is more appropriate. Why is that every Rangers GM has a propensity to ink awful contracts. I've been watching them do it for 65 years. When the Rangers won the cup in 94', they traded a career 700+ goal scorer and brought in some of coach Mike Keenan's former Blackhawk players and some of Messiers old Oiler players. A the Rangers had a terrific team before all this happened. These moves put in place the supporting cast. That 700+ goal scorer never won a cup, and I contend the Breadman will not either. He's a great player, no doubt, but he lacks the right stuff. Currently, three guys Panarin, Troba, and Fox represent approximately 40% of the payroll. If you could only only keep one, who would it be. For me it's Fox. If I could only launch one, who would it be. For me it's Trouba. The only other possibility Is a blockbuster where you launch Panarin and Trouba with a whole lot of sweeteners attached. There goes the neighborhood. There would be a lot of bodies strewn along the road. I really don't want to move the young D. The Blueshirts have 5 really good young ones - Fox - Lindgren - Miller - Schneider - Lundqvist. They can keep this group together for the next six years before $s may get in the way. Kakko, Kravtsov, and even Chytil for Pasta might work. But again the $'s are an issue. I'd love to hear your thoughts on how to launch Trouba. Keep in touch. Best Regards.
