Description
Just an idea, see a lot of people trying to trade Girard to free up cap space, I feel like you should wait til next summer when that cap space will be more necessary and Behrens will be a year closer. I doubt they'll be able to keep Compher after next year, so why not try and get an asset for him that can turn into a cheap young player that you'll need moving forward? 2nd round pick may be ambitious but I feel like teams that are looking to make the jump to the playoffs that have excess draft picks would be interested in a guy that's been a good playoff performer, isn't super expensive, and only has a year left so doesn't lock you into anything. I guess it would be sort of like the Graves trade last year though a little different because they wouldn't be guaranteed to lose him anyways like they would have with Graves.

I don't know if Compher is worth a second. I think NJ declines.

Valari Nichcushkin will get closer to $6,000,000 x 6 years.

Darcy Kuemper will get close to 6,000,0000 x 4 years.

Try more like $5,500,000 x 7 years or Andrew Copp.

All 3 get more than what you're offering them.

I’d try and sign Husso over Kuemper. DK was not inspiring to me to sign him for big dollars and lots of term.

That's pick #37.

If NJ ends up moving out some of their middle-6 fodder, I wouldn't mind getting Compher, but not for #37.

A third for Compher is compelling. Or an equivalent depth player.

Don't know if he fits into our lineup. Don't love the cap hit for a 3C either tbh. Definitely wouldn't be giving up #37 for him; maybe a 3rd round pick

110% agree with moving Compher before Girard. Also agree with others that NJ's second is too high here. Just do a third.

Your contract values are really close (imo). My critiques would be (1) I don't think Manson does only 3 years, (2) Copp is probably a bit low, and (3) Sturm is probably gone unless they offer him more. Good job though.

Good points, I changed the 2nd to a 3rd, could do a mid-tier prospect instead for a team in a similar situation. Bumped up Copp, Nuke, and Kuemper's contracts. Think there's still enough to do Mack/Byram/Newhook next summer but could trade Girard then if they need to make room and should get a pretty good return.

I actually thought you were good where you were on Kuemper and Nuke. I guess agents were surveyed about Nuke and his contract in the Athletic and the consensus was 5-5.5M. I think 6 is too high. He was great this year, but I'm not sure he hasa long enough track record to get to 6M.
