Yes, fleecing a couple trades is definitely a way to rebuild. Just not a realistic way.

Seems to be what Davidson is trying to do though but even then Kane as a rental won't bring in two (wanted) roster players along with 3 A-assets

Realistically, speaking teams will overpay for DeBrincat maybe and pay for Kane based on if they are confident he will make them win and the possibility of resigning him. Some roster player will get moved to fit him under the cap depending on the team but it's likely to be young players (perhaps a top prospect that seems to struggle to make the jump or yet to make an impact) and 1st round picks
