The usual nonsense of how the Leafs get rid of cap.

Yea, by trading, like the 31 other teams.

Yea the Oilers who have no cap space either and Muzzin who has NTC, yea that happens.

Expanding on what my friend @palhal alludes to, Edmonton has 8 slots open on the roster and only $7 million in cap space, with Jesse Puljujarvi and Kailer Yamamoto to re-sign. They would have to make an adjustment (trade) to absorb a $2 million cap hit, and you want them to take on $5.625 million? And then pay you a second for the "privilege"?

They are looking to trade Barrie. Puljujarvi is rumoured to be traded. That's the money right there.

After getting swept two years in a row, Oilers could use better defencemen on their roster. And Holland traded picks for Keith last season, so it's not far-fetched to assume he could pull off a similar move this year.

Stranger things have happened in Oiler land. And Oilers are a legitimate cup contender, Muzzin would waive to play with McDavid and Draisaitl.

Exactly the opposite the Leafs need to do, way too soft of a team, this Leafs team will get pushed around. Robertson in the top 6? He wouldn’t crack a cup contending teams 4th line. No one is shaking their legs when a line of Robertson, Tavares and Nylander hits the ice

I agree, but I see Knies filling that role come playoff time. I don't think Robertson is on this team long-term. If he impresses in the top six, then that would be a welcome surprise.

But I don't think the Leafs should spend cap on a top six forward because Knies looks like he can have an impact right away. I would prefer the Leafs acquire a top 2 right hand defenceman to play with Rielly.

I know this is all in good fun but play by the imaginary rules. Players with NTC or NMC contracts seldom leave the team there with. It's hard to make a team but at least try to make it realistic.
