Pens aren't trading Marino despite what people keep doing on this board. If they do, it's for an impact forward. Every report form hockey writers has been the likelihood of Marino being moved is very low.

Decline from Oilers. We are not paying to take that Murray contract. He is terrible.

He's actually decent when healthy. You're also getting Connor Brown as a pretty big upgrade to Puljujarvi while getting rid of Kassian. Helps both sides.

Let me check the stats on the upgrade.
Almost same amount of points. Brown played way more icetime.

JP stats.... Now you show Brown
Here are some more of his underlying numbers, and how they rank among the aforementioned 171 players:

CF/60 – 1st
CA/60 – 29th
SCF/60 – 23rd
SCA/60 – 128th
GF/60 – 55th
GA/60 – 9th
xGF/60 – 5th
xGA/60 – 69th
Getting rid of Kassian for a worse contract in Murray is a terrible idea. When was the last time Murray was good? 8 years ago?
We need a 60 game goalie next year. Not a 20 game goalie.

This is false logic though.

Browns ice time was higher because he kills penalties and JP doesn’t. Which adds to Browns value.

You also can’t compare point totals because JP played with McDavid and Connor Brown played with third line players.

I get it, JP was drafted high and it’s hard to sell off a high pick… but Connor Brown is by far and away the more valuable player out of the two.
