I don't know why people keep trying to send Miller to the Pens. I don't think there's a deal there for either team.

Maybe its the fear of losing Malkin in UFA negotiations

Moving Marino has never made sense. The next best RHD on the Pens down from Marino is Ruhwedel. I sing Ruhwedel's praises all the, but he's not a 2nd pairing dman. The Pens would be in a far worse position if they moved Marino.

Canucks grab the phone from Jim Benning who has broken back into Rogers Arena to desperately try and make more trades.

None of these make sense for any team.

is letang not their top priority right now? From what I understand, and I could be completely wrong, Marino has kind of fallen out of favour with the new management in PIT.

2 very very good Defencemen to play with Hughes, the most elite of all would be to send a package to get Dobson and run a career of Hughes-Dobson first pairing with drafting defencemen in the 1st rounds this year and the future till the shelf has something to contend with. OEL-Schenn solid, really hope UFA signings can provide short-term top 4 D and defensive help for the young Tim Thomas Demko. Offence with Kuzzy-Petey-Boeser solid, Podky-Horvat-Hogs/UFA?, Build a Bottom 6 from scratch

how does targeting RHD on good, long-term deals, not make sense for the Canucks? I understand the deals may not be perfect, but it's incredibly insulting to be compared to jimbo lol

Funny thing is there are Canuck fans who claim Marino isn't worth his contract and shouldn't be acquired for anything of value. I don't know why.

I'd love to get Marino as a Canuck fan, I think he'd be a great fit beside Hughes or OEL.

yeah i would love dobson, probably number 1 on my list of wants for the Canucks. Unfortunately, I'd be shocked if he was available any time in the next 6+ years

Letang is obviously their top priority, but that's not tied to Marino in any way. Moving Marino significantly hurts the Pens defense. Ruhwedel is the man up and finding a suitable replacement is incredibly hard. If it were easy, VAN wouldn't need to trade Miller to him. Reports on how ownership feels on Marino has been mixed.

True, UFA sign one like Mayfield is an option to not lose players. But a Top 4 D man is a top priority for a trade involving Top 6 forwards

yup. problem is, I really dont want Garland moved, he's on a good deal and his 5v5 numbers were stellar. Ideal world is a miller for dobson 1for1, but we all know that aint happening

Hmmm, Justin Braun UFA sign, and Miller+ sent for a top pairing RHD seems ok for next season

Miller for Marino, Poulin, and the 2023 1st from Pittsburgh doesn't make sense for Pittsburgh. If they're losing Malkin, they're losing Letang. Gutting the right side to improve the 2nd line center doesn't work. Marino doesn't fit the bill of what the Canucks are wanting as the roster player coming back in a potential Miller trade.

Carlo+Foligno for Garland+Myers makes 0 sense for either team. Myers and Garland are worth more than Carlo and Foligno. Myers doesn't fit with Boston over Carlo.

Pearson+Dickinson is worth more than a 4th. They're traded every other Canucks thread for scraps, while Pearson is worth a lot more than that. Dickinson is not worth the cost to move him at this point, the Canucks would be better to hold on to Dickinson through next season, give him a chance to rebound with the new coaching staff, then if he still underperforms, move him. Obviously, the trade for Detroit is a downright steal, a 4th for a 20-goal, 40-point winger, and a small-cap dump, but that's also why the trade makes no sense.

No, they aren't. Myers doesn't have positive value at $6M or at $4.5M. The value and the fit both do not work for the Bruins.

Friedman polled pro scouts, Myers does have positive value at $6M, especially at $4.5M.

The Marino for Miller deal only happens if they're 1 for 1... actually, Pittsburgh only makes the deal if it's Miller +. They can't afford to trade all their remaining assets AND they're (currently) top RH D-man for Miller. They'd be creating more holes in their line up than filling. Obviously, Van won't make that deal, so I highly doubt it's plausible.
