Description

Hawks just traded a 6.4m cap for picks. So they spend a little more this season and still have the three picks. DeBrincat is due for a raise next season. So I think Chicago did OK in trade, we'll see how the 7th overall pick turns out Hawks cleared 24m with Toews.Kane,andConnelly off the books next season, though I think Kane is resigned.

Cat is going to get $9M to $9.5M for 7 or 8 years....makes zero sense what just happened and turning around and signing Forsberg for $1M less makes even less sense.

News just broke from Poile that there has been progress on the Forsberg contract in Nashville.

No my friend. He signed Nielsen, Abdelkader, Alfredsson, Weis, Greene ( who actually wasn't horrible) and Vanek to an aging Wings team. Oh then he traded Datsyuks right's for the 15th overall pick and that would've been Chkryun. The man is dangerous. Don't let your GM be that man

Thanks. Maybe Gaudreau is a target. In the NHL teams basically exchange cap for cap. Hawks are looking at DeBrincat's next contract and figure they can get a comparable player with about the same cap and they have collected three picks too. Hawks may have finished out of the playoffs in 22/23. I figure the Hawks didn't really lose. the trade at all. Just gained some cap flexibility entering this UFA market...or not this year next year.
