Description
Rutger Mcgroarty is a good pick at 14 in my opinion. Offensively dynamic? Check. Drive to get better? Check. Awesome leadership qualities? Double check. Love the pick. Kids an absolute gem and will surprise many when he gets to the nhl in my opinion.

Hope Brad Lambert comes to the moose. It worked well for perfetti, who needed to adjust to the pro game speed. Lambert’s defensive game could be a bit sheltered by putting him on a line with torgersson. Then slot Lucius on his wing and the offence will come! The kid knows exactly what he is, and where he is in his development path. And he’s very open to input from the jets on his development. Not to mention, he has family nearby in Sask. He modes his game after Matt barzal and I couldn’t agree with that more. Kid has elite speed and skating and more importantly, can think at top speed. Playing with high end talent like with the moose or in Seattle (WHL) will only help his development.

I also really like the salomonsson pick. If he can clean up his defensive game, he could become a top pair guy. Staying in a defence first league like in Sweden should help him with that, especially if he can play in the SHL. Another elite skating defensemen who moves the puck well. Boom or bust. But that’s exactly what the jets need. A boom rd prospect.

Danny Zhilkin is also a great pick. Super skilled Canadian kid.

Garrett Brown is a big 2-way d-man from what I can tell. Hopefully he can continue his development. Not much scouting I could find on him.

Fabian Wagner is another fast offensively skilled guy. Defence lacks though. Hopefully that can develop and we get a solid versatile piece.

Couldn’t find anything on Domenic Divincentiis other than the fact that he has untapped potential.

Overall, for the first 4 picks alone, I give the jets an A or A+. Solid draft. Played well with the cards they were dealt. I also like the fact that chevy didn’t try to move around this draft or didn’t try to acquire more picks. Moving around wouldn’t be great in a draft so volatile. And I think the picks we had were just enough. More would be like putting all your eggs in one basket. Good to spread them around for future years.

Just had some fun and tried to be a little creative with the trades.

Solid draft analysis my friend. Couldn't agree more about McGroarty, reminds me of a potential Mark Stone. Love this kids vibe and cool to see him be truly excited about getting drafted by Winnipeg. Lambert could be one of the biggest steals in this draft and I'm shocked no one took a flyer on him before 30.

Edmonton trade makes too much sense for both sides. I'd do it without the pick even.

I don’t think lambert would be best off going to the AHL to start as it would put a lot more pressure on him. he would be better off in a lower league like the WHL.

Fair. I think that decision depends on whether you think lambert can be a bit insulated to start in the AHL.

However, sounds like the plan is the WHL for him according to mark Hillier

I’m not so sure what it would do for his development to go from playing against men for 2 years to suddenly go back to 16-20 year old competition. I feel like maybe an insulated role to start on the moose could be good for him. Would be cool to see him get a couple games to start the year with the Jets but probably won’t

While I'm sure the kids they drafted are decent enough and one or two of them will likely amount to some sort of NHL player, I'm really disappointed that they didn't offload Dubois(or Wheeler) at the draft.

Probably just to get his confidence up and let him have some fun again, I'm guessing he's seen as a project by the Jets if they're sending him to the WHL.

So long as Lambert isn't going back to Finland, I'd be happy. Liiga hasn't worked out well for his development.

I like the fact that they didn’t at the draft. Would have hurt our result in a draft that we need to hit out of the park, especially with future uncertainty.

However, now it’s time to unload wheeler and one of Dillon or Schmidt

How would it have hurt our result in the draft?
They both need to be gone before the season starts imo, honestly Dubois is the most important to get rid of, got to remove the toxicity from the room.

I know everyone on here thinks DeMelo is amazing but if there's demand for him and none for Schmidt or Dillon than DeMelo should be traded, need to open up at least one spot on the backend. Sounds like there's interest in Dillon though which doesn't surprise me, he was solid for the Jets last season.

Having said that who knows what their plan is, this organization is lost.
