that nylander trade looks like an overpayment. just get hellebuyck. we don't need stanstny and sure he's a very good depth player. but there's tons of other depth players out there. if we're just trading for helly then take out sandin. But I also don't see leafs even doing the trade first of all. I could see them trading for gibson or murrary but not helly because how expensive he can be

Yes, I think you could take one prospect out of that Helly trade for sure. They could go for Gibson or Kuemper as long as the Jeannot trade happens. Do you think a Jeannot trade would make sense for the Leafs?

That trade with Nashville is laughable. A ppg player, and star player in Nylander, a 60 pt player in Kerfoot, and a 1st for a 40 pt player and a 2nd????? I'm sorry but wtf lmao.

I am probably one of the biggest Jeannot homers on this web site but I am not sure if you realize that he only had one point from April 1st to the end of the season on APril 29th. That is 15 games...yup...15 games.

In the playoffs he only had 1 assist and was -4.

I would love Nylander to get moved for a more engaged player but we would also need to find a way to replace Nylander's 30+ annual goal production.

I do like that you took some of the salary from the forwards and spread it over the defense and goalies.

Hahaha I'm a huge Leafs fan and I never want my bias to effect the trades - sometimes it goes the other way and it's too good of a trade for the other team. How's the updated trade looking? I think the idea with the Nylander trade is you free up cap for a goalie, add someone in Jeannot who has the potential to be a top 6 winger, has a lower cap and has grit and could hopefully gain some additional picks or prospects.

Hahahaha sorry, huge leafs fan and try not to let my bias dictate my trades but sometimes it goes too in favor of the other team haha. I updated now, is that better?

I was thinking Jeannot was looking like a Tom WIlson comparable without the suspensions for stupidity but I was shocked with how his play dropped off so brutally.

I was wondering about getting a UFA like proven 20+ goal scorer with 99 hits not playing a whole season like Rakell for $4 MIL or there abouts allowing Nylander to be traded easier.

If Nylander is traded as a young ppg RW it will have to be for a great return. The 1st pick is nice to be included but Nashville is looking to return to the playoffs making the pick in the late teens of worse. It would be hard for me to go for it as bad I would like Jeannot on the Leafs.

EDIT: Thinking about it more and looking at the Debrincat trade of a 1st, 2nd and 3rd...Nylander for a 1st and Jeannot might be comparable. I kind of thought that Chicago got hosed on the deal as well though and the 1st was a 7th overall. Yup, still a tough call for me.

That Preds trade is definitely a generous overpayment, but Jeannot is so disproportionately valued by the franchise (and Askarov so highly thought of as a prospect) that frankly I would not be shocked if it was turned down.

I'm not to sure, I'd put him with JT, because I wouldn't want to break up marner with matthews
