A Jet A Flame And Some Fuel
A little hesitant with the D core, but this is honestly probably the best and most realistic put-together roster I've seen on here, ever. We slightly overpay on the Oilers trade, our #1 D, and our best future RHD for a mid-6 player and 3rd pairing D-man would only need to give up 1 and maybe one of our prospects and a mid pick. We could also do better than a 3rd and 7th for Jarnkrok. Other than that pretty well done.

Here is the thing, it's not just Leaf fans, I have literally been told that Nylander, Roberston, and a 1st aren't enough for Rasmus Andersson... how tf does that make any sense.

It's absolutely ridiculous how much sh*t I've seen where opposing teams' fanbases undervalue our players and overvalue theirs. Like I saw a few minutes ago a trade proposal of Nylander, Roberston, and a 1st for Toffoli and Andersson, and Flames fans had said even removing Toffoli would be a no, like in what world is Andersson worth Nylander, Robertson, and a 1st. Give me a fkn break. It's absolutely absurd. And i just saw an Oilers fan try to dump Ceci and some AHLer for Toffoli. We're over here being told 80+pt guys are worth nothing meanwhile other teams are trading trash.

Leafs 2324
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>An impractical 20 man roster. A massive overpay for two upcoming UFAs. Liljgegren and Niemela are the future of the Leafs RHD...even Timmins might acceptable. Then to add Robertson and the three picks. Leafs would be infinitely better just keeping Liljgren at RHD and then they would have 7..75m to sign a UFA (s) and keep those young assets.</div></div>
I do agree it's an overpay, but I don't see how we acquire Toffoli and Hanafin, without giving up that much, Niemela is one of our top prospects but he's a B-level prospects compared to other NHL team's prospect pools, his ceiling is a top 4 D, Lily I'd rather keep, but I had a discussion with Flames fans in which the same deal had been mentioned without Lily and I was told the Flames front office would laugh, which is prob wrong but they would more than likely decline, and If it's not Lily and Niemela, it's Nylander, which I would never do.

Maple Leafs work with Flames
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>yycofred</b></div><div>Niemela barely cracks the top 100 prospects in the league, he's posted as 170 lbs as a d man who is 3 years out from his draft year, he's a taller, slighter Jared Spurgeon with a quarter of the talent. Zary was posted as a top 50ish prospect with two years of pro already under his belt, why would the Flames consider moving him to fill the pipeline with Niemela instead? Nylander is an upcoming UFA going to a team with a serious lack of direction right now, unless there is an 8 year deal attached to Nylander then the Flames don't even take a sniff at acquiring him. Nylander is also going to want north of 10M on his next deal which will need to be signed before the cap takes a serious jump. That can remain Toronto's headache instead of the Flames. I would hope you don't think the value is all that off, you posted it.. .it doesn't mean it's remotely close though.</div></div>
Nylander isn't going for north of 10. Word is his camp is asking between 9-9.5. Which is a perfect valuation for his play. I do agree that Calgary says no unless there is a contract extension planned, but the trade itself is pretty even.

LMFAO WHAT??? I get Andersson is a D, so it's hard to compare with forwards, but Nylander is an 80-90 pt guy, Andersson hasn't cracked 50 pts once. On top of that, u get a 1st. I know it's customary to **** on any Leafs trade as u all value the Leafs worse than Arizona, but Calgary is not the team that will say no to that trade.

Jt miller + Tavares destroys the cap situation for awhile and Miller does not fit the leafs timeline
Murray’s contract will cost more to dump</div></div>
Tavares, who I would absolutely love to get rid of, has an nmc, so u can't move him, but he only has 2 more years left on his contract, and sure it's not ideal paying those 2 a combined $19M but u shed $2M and get a goal scorer for Marner who goes ghost in the playoffs. Matthews was dealing with something no doubt, and Nylander, despite all the **** about him not being worth his $7M and the worst, has shown come playoff time he's the best of the core and actually shows up. With the addition of O'Reilly in the trade deadline this year i think this group goes far provided they are all going. This notion that they aren't a playoff team is stupid, they came back down 3-2 against Tampa in game 3, 4-1 in game 4, and beat them in 6. Some bad bounces and Matthews, Marner, and Tavares going ghost-handicapped them against Florida. That group could definitely go far if Florida's squad can.

No team is giving up a 2nd in a very deep draft for a concussed goalie.</div></div>
Then let TO retain some salary and Van give up a few more picks, I mean one is a 100pt scorer and the other an 80 pt scorer, Van getting the better player by a pretty decent margin so I'd say they'd be willing to sacrifice the extra bucks for that.
And as for Murray, that's why the leafs are retaining 25%. He's still a good goalie when he's healthy, a big upgrade on Mrazek and that's all I see Chicago fans wanting from us in this armchair gm stuff.

He does that in the regular season, he is nowhere to be found when the playoffs come around which is what really matters. He gets way too nervous and stiff when making plays in tight playoff games. You can't win with him in your lineup, you just can't.

This is probably the one scenario I've seen that I like the most, but I don't think Pitt agrees to that and Karlsson would definitely fetch for more than that. The best roster I've seen on here for the leafs though.

He's slow and gives the puck away more often than not, but he's what fixed our PK in the playoffs against Tampa, and as a 3rd pairing he's not bad.
Like Holl had more Takeaways with only a bit more Giveaways than Jake Muzzin, plus used the body more than Muzzin, the guy we're paying 5.5M.

Kerfoot is a 50pt player and Holl, despite all that's said, is a solid defenseman. I said I realized Toronto would need to add more, but Kerfoot certainly isn't a cap dump.

As much as I actually like this team, like jded said, ducks easily decline that trade. Wouldn't give away Sandin tho. Just keep Campbell at that point. Costs less and younger. Also wouldn't sign PK. ARI prob declines too. Would prob have to give up a 2nd + 3rd. Keep the extra money from keeping Campbell instead of Gibson and PK or possibly use that for another depth piece, whether a 3rd or 4th line depth piece or a 3rd pairing dman.

One of the better teams I've seen on here tbh. 1 thing tho. I would not sign Manson. He's a good defensive defenseman, but that 4 mil cap hit could be used elsewhere. Sandin is ready for a proper roster spot, and Gio and Lily worked great last year. If one gets injured we could just have one of our prospects like Niemela step up. That 4mil could really help in keeping Kase and adding to our bottom 6 depth, as tbh, that's not looking great.
