Can't remember who was saying it, may have been Friedman or someone of that world, but the standard for cap dumps seems to be about a 1st rounder for $5 mil in actual dollars dumped. In this deal the Leafs are dumping $8 mil in actual dollars. It would likely take a 1st and 2nd or 3rd to get this done.

My thinking is chicago needs defense and in this case they get a pairing. Cap dump for leafs, yes, but also services a need for Chicago. RD that can play top 4 minutes at 2 mill is worth something in this league
