Bye Kerfoot

Created by: JackSC87
Team: 2022-23 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 17, 2022
Published: Jul. 17, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I'll note that I really have no idea what they're gonna do aside from Kerfoot, who I am pretty certain will be traded. I believe the 4th line and scratches will move up and down from the AHL quite a bit (not Aube-Kubel), I could see guys like Steeves, Douglas, Anderson, Malgin, J. Benn, and Mete getting a lot of looks this year. But I decided to keep Holl around because Holmberg and Gaudette (who will probably be claimed) will be the guys to move up and down the most to allow for these guys to play. But Holl definitely still could be traded.

IF he was traded it’s not just for a 2nd to a random team

Makes sense. Robertson needs to have a breakout!

Yeah it is. Unless its a cap dump team in which case it's most likely a 3rd or 4th

I like Kerfoot, I think he's versatile and had great point production this year. But I seriously doubt he gets more than a 2nd right now. Being free agency I was also convinced that he would be traded in a package deal for another active player, like Pulijarvi (spelt wrong) or Garland, but they simply don't have the cap space nor the roster spots to do so anymore. Now if they elect to move Muzzin I think a package deal involving Kerfoot is definitely still on the table.

As of now teams don’t like moving 1sts or 2nds especially with a strong ‘23 draft coming.

A soft player cap dump isn’t fetching much interest in todays market.

Sorry but many teams want to shed cap for various reasons. Takes a sweetener.

I find it hard to believe that a 51 point 27 year old 3.5 million dollar player requires a sweetener.

He’s the 3rd wheel in the top 6 on a very good scoring team. He doesn’t drive the play. His 51pts earned his 3.5m on the Leafs. 3rd line role in Dallas isn’t a fit. Again in todays market he is a tweener not a sought after commodity. Cap dump for most teams not a cog. If his 51pts is your go to & correct he’d be an easy trade but he’s still a Leaf. Asking prices are nothing it’s who will pay. That is the case for most players just looking at the UFA market which he is close to becoming. What would he get when a UFA? My guess 1.5m or so. That is my premise on assessing his current worth.

Why does Brown get a second but Kerfoot needs a sweetener?

No I meant Dubas has shown zero interest in moving Kerfoot. Muzzin won’t waive so that’s a useless conversation

Brown doesn’t really have a weakness to his game. He’s not a guy who wows fans and that’s why he isn’t valued here as much as he is by a GM. I have no idea what a GM would give up for Kerfoot but I am skeptical of how many GMa want to help us out by taking 3.5 million off our books and giving us a 2nd rounder, a round that produces a decent amount of talent historically.
