Initial Creation Date: Jul. 18, 2022

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Took some notes from previous AGM, think it's still best for business if WPG goes for an aggressive rebuild to keep Connor-Ehlers happy.

Trades
1.
WPG
  1. Askarov, Yaroslav
  2. Johansen, Ryan
Additional Details:
RyJo comes with a big contract yes, but he replaces Scheifele minutes relatively well. Askarov gives you a goalie of the future under team control.
NSH
  1. Scheifele, Mark
  2. 2025 2nd round pick (WPG)
Additional Details:
Johansen off books gives NSH some more wiggle room. Despite mixed feelings on him, Scheif is still arguably a top 10 center in the league, they'd be silly to not try go for it.
2.
WPG
  1. Hörnqvist, Patric
  2. 2025 2nd round pick (FLA)
Additional Details:
Hornqvist is a temporary cap dump, could retain on him at the TDL and grab a pick in exchange. FLA pays the 2nd for the sake of shedding cap and rounding out bottom 4 on the backend.
FLA
  1. Dillon, Brenden
Additional Details:
Dillon's been given the run around far too many times, think he's a quality player who plays playoff hockey -- might be just what FLA needs.
3.
WPG
  1. Blackwood, Mackenzie
  2. Daws, Nico
  3. Foote, Nolan
  4. Sharangovich, Yegor
Additional Details:
Get younger, grab an underutilized forward, a potential goalie of the future, and a big body who'll be NHL ready in another year or two. Blackwood takes the starting spot to steady the ship the best WPG can, no goalies on the market that are much better than he is.
NJD
  1. Hellebuyck, Connor
Additional Details:
NJD has the money to spend, Hellebuyck's contract isn't too much for them to re-sign Bratt. Losing depth scoring hurts but they had a chance to be a playoff time last year if they got even average goaltending.
4.
WPG
  1. Barron, Justin
  2. Byron, Paul
  3. Dvorak, Christian
  4. 2023 1st round pick (FLA)
  5. 2023 2nd round pick (MTL)
Additional Details:
WPG working at a disadvantage when it comes to dealing an RFA with expressed interest playing elsewhere, but I think this is a decent haul all things considered. Quality 2C, vet in the locker room, RHD prospect, late pick to swing big on. Added the 2nd just because I'm not totally sold on Barron being anything more than a middle pairing guy. Hope he proves me wrong.
MTL
  1. Dubois, Pierre-Luc [RFA Rights]
Additional Details:
Doing right by PLD doesn't hurt, sending him out the conference helps out for the sake of competing in a few years.
5.
WPG
  1. 2024 4th round pick (OTT)
Additional Details:
Clear a roster spot and let Appleton get a proper shot in OTT.
OTT
  1. Appleton, Mason [RFA Rights]
Additional Details:
OTT gets some depth to pair with Formenton in bottom 6 with the Connor Brown trade. Inexpensive, do-it-all player who can help win playoff games.
6.
WPG
  1. 2023 2nd round pick (CGY)
Additional Details:
TDL move, grab a 2nd or 3rd depending on how well Horny plays through the year.
CGY
  1. Hörnqvist, Patric ($2,150,000 retained)
Additional Details:
Could be any playoff team come TDL, just think he fits what CGY wants in a player.

PLD would get more as a rental from a contender than MTL giving up this much, switch Barron with Norlinder and keep the 2nd and that would be a fair deal if it was from MTL. Barron does have the slight chance of being a top pairing but he'll be a great top 4 dman. while Norlinder pretty much needs a new home as he doesnt fit the new management. potential top 4d but top 6 dman.

They're also not in a position of power in the negotations, but they could get more from a contender. Lets say 2 late first with a 2nd and a B+ prospect from a contender but def less from MTL.

Appleton is a 4th liner, I don't think Ottawa really has any need for him

not much better, if better at all than the first version. The Jets trade too much talent for deadweight, pushing them further from contention, but not far enough to get the real good high picks.

It basically just keeps the Jets on the mushy middle for longer by downgrading the overall talent, but but which to make then really bad.

The Jets would be get better off moving these players for picks and young players if they want to really change things up.

They're not getting anything like that from a contender as well, rental players cost because they come half retaind not a single contrender is in a need for a top 6 C ... they look for playoffs guy's to help not to build around
