You're not getting anything of value in return for Muzzin. He has a full NTC and gets to choose where he goes. Washington isn't going to be that place.

The only way Muzzin is getting moved is if Toronto retains a significant portion of salary and/or takes back a bad contract. Without providing a sweetener, there's no way a cap-beneficial Muzzin trade will happen.

Jake Muzzin declines for family reasons

When a player asks for an NTC, he also accepts a slightly lower salary in exchange for stability. Now Jake is asking to leave him alone.

I’d much rather have Muzzin at a million more than Myers

Don't listen to him. Caps would take this in terms of pure value

We don’t have the cap. I agree it’s a good idea but we don’t have the room

10 team NTC this upcoming year and this is a cut throat league. thankfully its just a NTC. Look at McD in tampa, he was told to co-operate and supply teams he would go to or he would be put on waivers and colombus agree'd to claim him. Not the first or last time this happened. Burkes told multiple stories on radio over the years about how hes used this same strategy

Why would the caps not just trade eller for puljujarvi themselves??? someone has yet to provide a good explanation of why they should be giving up anything to take Muzzin. McDonagh is a much better player and got literally nothing back

The ink on his contract is not even dry yet. Why would he accept? What it's in it for him? For his wife? For his children? Did he ask for a trade to be closer to home? Oh wait, he already plays in his hometown.

You're building the reputation of the team with moves like that. Second class organization. Players will think twice before signing with Toronto and moving their family.

Muzzins in year 2 of his 4 year deal, not idea how ink is still dry. If he was so concerned with not moving youd think he would go for a NMC. If kyle is hellbent on getting rid of Muzzin he can just get put on waivers. Its a business and Dubas needs to be cut throat and make the move and reallocate his cap dollars, he cant be worrying about how muzzin will feel and dubas shouldnt give a sht he needs to be cut throat and make moves to win this year or the entire front office is gone.

TLDR, Kyle has a wife, kids and also manages his home team. He needs to prioritize winning this year over reputation.

First, you don't know the difference between NTC and NMC.

Second, you don't understand the consequences of acting disrespectfully with a player. Say goodbye to UFAs next year.

And third, when you're treating players like common pawns, players have no loyalty to the team. Say goodbye to the playoffs. Nobody will take a bullet for the team if the team doesn't take a bullet for the players.

I dont think you understand the difference from NTC/NMC

No trade clause, Player submits a list of teams he cant be traded to, in Muzzins case, 10 teams this year. the first 2 years were a full no trade meaning you need his permission to trade him.

No movement clause, player cannot be traded without consent AND cannot be assigned to the minors or put on waivers

Read the contract:

CLAUSE DETAILS: Starting July 1, 2023: Player submits a 10 team no trade list.

That's next year, not this year
