Welcome to CapFriendly! Sometimes, it's not too friendly.

Yes, that's the skeleton Kyle Dubas starts with, and not even enough cap space to bring up Nick Robertson. Now the question is, what moves do you make to turn this into a manageable and realistic 22- or 23-man roster?

Trade Muzzin to the ducks where some quack traded all their experienced defensemen Then you will have some cap space to work with,

sent him to buffalo to mentor the young guns coming up in their system, along with some picks for unproven goalie prospect devon levi.

ZERO chance
No interest in Muzzin- NONE

And Levi is held on very high regards by Sabres mgmt
So while he may be “unproven” for the moment, he is seen as a prospect who is gonna get his shot to be our long term goalie
He’s basically untouchable

Here the skinny my friends.
Muzzin would absolutely "mentor the young guns", but to move 5,625,000 until 2023-24 will most likely cost assets.
Pacioretty (only one year on his contract and only $1,375,000 higher salary) had been a ppg forward for the last three years with the Knights but to move him young RHD Coghlan had to be included.
While Jeff Petry had a difficult start last year in Montreal, he closed out the season playing exceptionally well he was traded WITH a former first round pick for a LHD (with much lower skills) and a 4th.
Teams are very reluctant to take on cap this season without receiving significant compensation.
Jake may be moved for assets but certainly not to Buffalo and never for Levi.
@Jdails it may be hyperbolic, but take out Levi, the 2nd and 3rd may be the cost to move two years of Muzzin regardless of how well he plays.
