    ARI
    1. Bear, Ethan [RFA Rights]
    2. Gardiner, Jake
    Additional Details:
With the addition of Coghlan, who performed adequately in Vegas while being a similar defenseman to Bear, this could possibly make Bear expendable. He still has some value and I was wondering if he could be leveraged as a sweetener in a potential Gardiner trade.
    2.
    CAR
    1. Sandin, Rasmus [RFA Rights]
    Additional Details:
In terms of RFA negotiations, it seems like both teams are at an impasse, mainly involving their role going forward. A change of scenery could benefit both. I really like Sandin considering his great statistical performance albeit under sheltered minutes, as we need someone to fill this spot with Gardiner gone (hypothetically). Toronto should find a use for Necas, as a speedy young top-6 winger that seems rather boom or bust currently. Should work out for both sides, feel like value is close.

I don't think Carolina needs to be that agressive about moving Gardiner, but I like the Necas-Sandin idea

Of course but Sandin is still very young and displayed there’s a lot of promise and skill to work with in the previous season. When Skjei’s deal comes off the books in two years, Sandin will have the chance to fill his shoes while someone like Seeley or Fensore get the 3D spot if they aren’t a part of other deals.

Leafs are not trading the Sandman who is a potential first pairing defenceman and PP quarterback.

He’s definitely ready for it but as of right now, they don’t have the cap space to work on a bridge deal or a long-term one. The best way to get the money would be to trade Muzzin which would kill two birds with one stone. The problem is whether or not he’ll waive his NTC. And I don’t think trading Nylander is a viable solution either.

What about Liljegren then? He was incredibly effective on both ends of the ice this season (again, albeit facing replacement-level competition). Unless you trade Holl or Muzzin, there’s literally no cap space available to be utilized to both retain Sandin’s services and give Liljegren the roster spot he rightfully deserves.

There is no way the Leafs are trading the Sandman........You know his upside perfectly well as being a top pairing defenceman and PP quarterback for years........there is a reason why he was voted the top defenceman when he played in the World Juniors.

holl is gone , D core prob ends up being Rielly-Gio Sandin-Brodie Muzzin-Liljegren

Holl is the odd man out........Leafs also have Topi Niemela comming and he is looking outstanding as a right hand defenceman.

I like the pickup of Victor Mete as think he is going to be an outstanding 7th defenceman and Topi Niemela as a RH defenceman is looking great and working his way up to the Leafs.

We could easily offer sheet Sandin and give you a 2nd rounder if need be.
