Ducks actually could bite on this. They need a defensive veteran who can eat TOI

Not worth moving Lindgren to give the 3C a 6x4. Just put Goodrow there next season

Chytil's fate was sealed the second they signed Trocheck. He's out. They'll find a cheaper 3C option or just plug Goodrow in.

Probably gonna have to move Lindgren either way, unless they can find a 3C for 1mil. Goodrow is a meh 3rd C and if Trocheck or Zibanejad go down long term we're screwed. Can't contend with Panarin-Goodrow-Kakko as the 2nd line.

I wouldn’t panic about that. Goodrow played a lot of first line RW this past season and was fine

not winning a cup with fine

look at the depth of the teams that have won a cup lately. they're not putting overpaid grinders in their top 6. not gonna have the cap space to add like we did last year either.

say zibanejad gets another concussion. you're going Trocheck-Goodrow-Brodzinski-Carpenter down the middle? you think that's beating tampa/carolina etc in 7 games? you gotta have contingency plans and our center depth is totally drained. maybe you can move a young D for a young C (Kings might be interested), but if you're going into the season with Goodrow as ur 3rd best center (and no other top 9 center options) you're just wasting our marquee wingers.

Well way to cherry pick an injury to the one forward who would kill the entire depth. Not to mention, you don’t even have a contingency plan either lol. Trocheck-Chytil-Brodzinski-Carpenter also isn’t beating Tampa/Carolina so why even bring this up?

If anything, maybe the best move is move Goodrow so that you can spend under $1.5M on a 4th liner. If you’re willing to stomach four years of $1.25M after 2027 dead cap you’ll get cap credit for 2023-25. But still, I don’t really understand your massive opposition. This is a cup contender, especially post trade deadline.

If Goodrow is our 3C we are in massive trouble, he's a mediocre at best 4th liner. He was not good when he jumped up in the lineup even to the third line. He was an anchor to Panarin and Strome, an anchor to Mika and Kreider and an anchor to Laf and Chytil. That contract needs to go, it was a bad idea from the moment they traded for his rights

A mediocre 3C is reasonable but a mediocre 4th liner??? Goodrow was arguably our most effective defensive forward outside of Zibanejad, and he improved his offense output from the numbers he accumulated with the freaking Lightning out of all teams.

C’mon man, you know none of what you said is true. You only said it because you hate the contract. (To be clear, it is bad)

44.44% CF, 44.48% SF, 44.42% xGF%, all at 5v5... he was not good at all last year. He was far from our most effective defensive forward, he was one of the least effective. He improved his offensive numbers because he was getting play time with Panarin, his metrics were atrocious. He made that line significantly worse with him than without him, the contract is horrible but he wasn't much better as a player
