Because Vancouver fans vastly overrate the value of Tanev. For some reason they think he's worth a high-end pick or a teams top prospect.

I would rather just take Heiskanen at #3 and wait a year or two before he's ready. I haven't watched Tanev enough, but if Stars planned on trading that pick for a defensman, I would include it as part of a package for a young stud d-man.
