Description

Although it would probably be wiser to package either Sillinger or Johnson in a trade for an established 1C to win now, this is impossible due to their cap situation. They have elite wingers on the first line, but mediocre options at center to play with them. The Voracek and Gudbranson contracts are really holding the team back. They will have to let the bad contracts run out and allow for their young players to develop before they will do anything in the playoffs. However, they will probably have a good chance at making the playoffs this year with Boston, Washington, Tampa and Florida all having taken steps back.

Additional Details:

With Calgary having a ton of cap space after losing Gaudreau and inevitably losing Tkachuk, they will be willing to acquire Nyquist to fill in holes in the top 6. With 1 year left on his deal, and still producing decent numbers, this is a fair deal considering Clagry's situation.

I mean, if you think Calgary's willing to help out Columbus of all teams right now, more power to you, but I doubt it. Still, if this were on the table, I think Jarmo would be hard-pressed not to take it.

Keep this in mind Patches went to CAR with a sweetener and for nothing back. Expect the same for whatever team helps you out. For example it could be a 3rd or a 2nd or a prospect but that’ll go with Nyquist

I get your point, but Calgary is gonna be pushing hard to get top 6 fwds next year. They are not in a position to blow it up.
