Jets should take that and run! Nelson is from just down the highway from the Peg but he probably has Winnipeg on his no trade list like most every player does.. 👎

I should clarify - Lou can only do this if he confirms that Dubois isn’t just trying to end up in Montreal and would consider extending long term w isles next summer.

Unlikely that Nelson waives for Winnipeg or that the Jets look to get older if they move Dubois, but that is a pretty decent trade, value wise, you put together there.

Raty is a stud and will be a GREAT nhl player. I don’t want to give him up but as Dubois is still very young, and as isles would have barzal & Kadri down the middle in my scenario, raty wouldn’t have a place on isles for a while.

Truthfully i think Raty is the only untouchable prospect the isles have, so Lou probably wouldn’t do this deal. But have to give to get. Again, need Dubois word that he’d want to stay long term, however.

PLD had 60 points playing with Connor and Ehlers. Barzal had 59 point playing with Parise and Nelson had 59 playing with Anders Lee. Considering what a whiny **** PLD is I wouldn’t make this deal. I’m not even convinced he is more talented than Ray.

I think PLD on the left side, w barzal taking more responsibility at center, could work great.

Is there a winger out there on any team that you think is a fair fit for Brock, assuming he becomes expendable if they sign kadri?

Isn’t Raty’s production in Finland very comparable to Lundell’s after he was drafted? Dubois is such a douchebag that I wouldn’t want to move Raty for him. It’s not worth the headache. Even if he was willing to sign long term he will **** and moan for his entire tenure with the isles.

Easy answer is that I wouldn’t trade Brock Nelson to sign Kadri. Kadri is going to want a 6 or 7 year deal and is two years older than Nelson. That could get ugly real fast.

I don’t even think they could afford to get a winger and sign Kadri. Moving Bailey seems impossible after the Bjorkstrand deal.

And you don’t want JT Miller. I really don’t know how you plan to improve the offense or what you plan to give up…

The offense will be better by adding Romanov and Salo while also getting rid of Chara and Greene. Tbh I think they can get more out of Beau, Wahlstrom and Bellows next year. Palmieri had great metrics last year and finished strong. If the weak link is Josh Bailey then I can live with that.

You’re probably right, but two things:
1) what about all the BS Lou said about wanting to make some hockey trades. He clearly wasn’t happy. Did he underestimate how bad the market and cap stuff would be?

2) perhaps this can get us to the deadline where we’re fighting for a playoff spot but he’ll still have to upgrade then if they want to be a contender.

Also, isles can’t afford for one important player to get injured all season…

This roster has way more to give than what trotz got out of them last year. Beauvillier and Wahlstrom are huge examples of that.

I don’t think he’s willing to make a big swing rn. He added Romanov to keep Dobson and Sorokin happy which will keep Barzal happy. I think he’s just waiting to replace everyone with the guys he’s drafted over the past couple of years lol. As crazy as it sounds I think he must believe that internal improvement can fix their scoring issues.

Defense and goaltending win championships. Get Sorokin to the playoffs and anything can happen. Romanov and Salo can probably get them there just because they aren’t Chara and Greene lol.

It rly sucks how bad Lou botched the last 12 months. He should have had the foresight to realize chara was not the answer. If he traded that 1st last summer for a dman, the season plays out so differently. Isles ruined an amazing debut year at UBS. Lost a bunch of season tix holders including me. Meanwhile to see toews win it, rags go to the conference finals, and trotz let go…

I didn’t agree w Barry a lot last season but i rly felt that a 6 month break would have been exactly what they needed to come back refreshed w Barry as coach

Better to fire him a year early instead of a year late. If they waited a year they would’ve lost Lambert to another team. This was the right move.

I would’ve preferred he trade Beau for Romanov before expansion. That way he could’ve protected Eberle and the kraken would’ve taken Bailey. As much as it pains me to admit it they needed Eberle more than Bailey last year.

Very important season, with barzy extension coming up next summer. That’s why i expect a bigger move.

Lou chose the playoff guy over the skilled guy, not realizing that you need the skilled guy to get you to the playoffs. It was absolutely the wrong decision.

It’s definitely not* been a perfect four years for Lou. For all the good deadline moves, he’s made equally bad off season moves.

If they make a trade I expect them to target Meier on San Jose. But that probably happens closer to the deadline if it happens at all.

We shall see. Either way, i think it’s a waste of our time from now until September to be refreshing Twitter or capfriendly. Nothing happening at this point. And yet i can’t help it.
