How so? You want to give us 9M in cap for 2 years with two players we have absolutely no interest in. That in itself with what we have seen in the cap space market is basically worth JT Miller. Then you want us to give you a good young RHD, a good young middle six centre and another roster player? Yeah big time drop the first.

Detroit isn't even a playoff team yet so how does Detroit benefit at all from 1yr of Miller?

Detroit is still rebuilding so why give up any assets for a 32yr old Myers on a horrible contract, taking on $6M cap hit for 2 seasons. Detroit should get at least a 1st just for taking that contract.

It’s an easy Dub for the Wings on this trade in terms of swapping value; it just doesn’t make sense or align with the direction of the team.

That would be a rather disappointing haul for Miller if I were a Canucks fan.

When Gustav Lindstrom is the best player in a package for a star player, it’s very clearly an underwhelming return. He’s got serious potential to be a mainstay as a 3rd pair defenseman but there is no indication he’ll be better than that. With that being said; he’s cheap and here for another 2 seasons.

Although, you have to consider with all the backend additions to the defense if there isn’t some sort of indication that somebody will be moved from that group.

Rasmussen is still a wildcard but also cheap and here for another 2 years on a bargain deal. Is he ever going to be a legit top 6 forward? Probably not. But given his size, potential & contract; he’s more valuable on our team than not.

It's 1yr of Miller when Detroit isn't a playoff team. The following season I can see Detroit making the playoffs but it's still aways from contending. Miller is 29 and it's highly unlikely he signs in Detroit. Myers contract is awful and he takes a roster spot from someone who is in Detroit's log term plans. Plus wasting $6M in cap on Myers when Detroit has to resign Larkin, Bertuzzi, Ned and possibly Suter. There could be a UFA Detroit might be able to sign and if they are wasting $6M on Myers it limits the options. Dickinson at best a bottom 6 forward and isn't upgrade over any of our bottom 6 players and Lockwood is an AHL player.

So it comes down to Detroit is giving up Lindstrom, Rasmussen, Sundqvist, a 2024 1st and a 2023 3rd rd pick for 1 season of Miller. I really don't know how this is good for Detroit.. I could see a non-Wings fan liking this because Detroit is getting absolutely fleeced.

Truthfully, I hadn’t considered the Tyler Myers effect. But without him and the hinderance of his contract, the complexion of the deal changes dramatically.

Myers is staying in Vancouver because no one is going to pay for Myers. The cap only goes up $1M next year as well.
