CHI not going to be buying a goalie at this point in time. DiPietro probably only worth 4th/5th currently..

Yeah, you're probably right. A third may be too rich without NHL games. And it doesn't need to be Chicago, just any team looking for a goalie prospect with good potential and close to the show.

As an isles fan, do you sense that Dobson is off limits or would Lou move him to get a star player up front?

Has he shown much promise since his WJC performances?

Lou already moved one elite puck moving d man in Toews and it was a disaster. You have to understand every core player outside of Dobson was drafted by Snow. Barzal, Nelson, Lee, Beauvillier, BaileyC Pelech, Pulock, Mayfield and Sorokin are all Snow’s guys.

The issue is that Lou made their defense significantly worse while not adding young talent thru the draft the way Garth did. Like you can’t expect Bailey to be the same player he was on in 17-18 if you have Chara and Greene patrolling the blue line.

Lou knows the only way to save his job to try and copy what Garth did. So he traded for Romanov who is friends with Soroky. Meanwhile he’s betting on Robin Salo to be the last left handed defenseman Garth got in the draft who will make a big impact. He isn’t gonna improve the forward core via trade unless the deal resembles something like Strome for Eberle in 2017.

He doesn't have godly numbers in the A but he's been solid. So, some promise but this next year will be the make or break.

A team would be taking a big chance on him for a third. I would definitely say you're right about that needing to be a 4th maybe a 5th right now.

That's fair. If I was in his seat, Dobson would be a top priority to lock up long term.

I actually edited the post cause I didn’t feel I elaborated well on it lol. Basically this entire team is Garth Snow’s baby and Lou dropped that baby on it’s head lol. Every young player in NY. Barzal, Beauvillier, and Wahlstrom in particular are Snow’s guys. Lou doesn’t even deserve credit for his first round picks in 2018. Garth played with Wally’s dad in college and everyone knew Snow wanted Dobson back then.

Lou won’t make another move cause he is terrified of ****ing up again. He’s like a kid trying to clean up a mess before mom and dad come home. But everything still looks a little ****ed up after he’s done lmao.

I’m not even joking. Lou won two GM of the year awards cause Garth Snow was somehow better at acquiring talent than he was. Only thing Lou did right was hire Trotz lol. I like Lambert but Jesus Christ that firing was a bad look.

The trotz firing was way out of left field. Very curious how the team performs under Lambert.

What has Lou done but traded for former Devil's who just take up room on their salary cap?

I’m a big fan of Lambert. They were gonna lose him if they kept Barry.

He added Pageau but didn’t move salary in the deal. He needed to move bad contracts to justify those overpays and he didn’t. Dude also gave up a second rounder for Any Greene and to this day nobody knows why lmao.

Parise was good last year. Palmieri had good underlying numbers but terrible puck luck. Not to mention the fact Toronto overturned 117 goals scored by Palmieri last year. As for Greene yeah I’m with you on that one.

To clarify Pageau was the right move at the time. But he should’ve had Ottawa taking back Leo and Hickey in the deal. That way he could’ve kept Toews.

Of course he could’ve just traded his first to dump Ladd instead of moving Toews for scraps and trading a first for Kyle Palmieri and Travis Zajac smh. Honestly Zajac may have been the better player in the deal that year lmao.

The Toews deal is going to sting for a long time. Friendly contract too.

Interesting on the pageau deal. Tough to send bad contracts back at the trade deadline without grossly overpaying but yeah give ottawa an extra pick to take on hickey, Leo or that first with Ladd. They were stockpiling picks at that time, I'm sure they would have done it.

They give up a first and a second at the time which was a lot to give up without taking salary back imo. But they also traded another second for Greene.

In hindsight I would’ve traded

2020 1st, 2020 2nd and the 2021 2nd with Leo + Hickey for
JGP and Mike Reilly.

Maybe at the time you would have had to throw in Aho but that seems irrelevant now lol.

That'll probably be a "no" from the Jackets; by that point, we'll probably be more focused on signing our own up-and-coming kids to second deals and calling up Jiricek.
