Barzal is not moving to wing, he will be traded if they ask him to do it

Barzal constantly drives the middle of the ice, he doesn’t create off the wall.

Trotz refusing to trust Barzal in his own zone, but trusting LEO KOMAROV, is probably one of the reasons he was fired. Barzal isn’t moving to wing lol.

The Avs won the cup last season while having the 4th worst face off win % in the league , yet isles fans think faceoffs are a good reason to move a true center like Barzal to wing.

Dude Barzal was a very good two way player in juniors and he’s fast af. He can win board battles fairly easily. He’s able to play in his own zone Trotz just didn’t let him.

Also let’s not forget how long is took Tavares to start winning face offs at a high clip or how long it took him to start penalty killing. Just shows you how long most of these guys have been watching hockey smh.

Nathan Mackinnon won only 45% of his faceoffs last season, maybe the Avs should sign a 30 year old center and move him to wing

I’ve never understood why he sucks at face offs. I still assume he will figure it out tho and it’s been 8 years lol.

Barzal does not drive the net nearly enough, which is frustrating because he’s very capable

It’s not about driving the net, Barzal consistently exits and enters the zone in the middle of the ice, he’s one of the best in the league at it

To each their own opinion yet Barzal being right handed constantly after red line on every zone entry will push with his speed to either side wall which he should do and has done over and over on film. Not sure why anyone gets so up in arms about him moving outside? He played W for Team Canada as well both at Juniors and Worlds. His speed wide will open the ice and allow for middle lane drive and weak side wing either far post drive or high cut back across grain. I am big Barzy guy but in my opinion on want him outside not Nelson.

Barzal is a smart guy, he’s going to either request a trade or threaten to take his QO next offseason. And I’m looking forward to it.

There is not a chance he’s going to agree to move to wing, and he shouldn’t. The young stars run the NHL now, it’s turning into the NBA. The way it should be

Look at the Brooklyn Nets. They have done every single thing that KD and Kyrie have asked them to do since the moment they arrived and they still want out. Giving the players power doesn’t work.

No on film and the numbers show that Barzal enters the offensive zone through the middle, which opens up space for his linemates.

They should trade him and let him thrive as a 1C on another team if they are even thinking about asking him to move to wing. It would be a forced rebuild, I don’t think isles fans are ready for what’s about to happen.

Barzal has been a 1C since Bantam, his entire skillset is suited for center- after Trotz arrived he has had to change his game and play with scrubs at times which has affected his production. There is not a chance he’s moving to wing, he has all the leverage right now. Look what Tkachuk just did and what Dubios did when he wanted out of CBJ.

Barzal has done almost everything the isles have asked of him, he’s not switching positions in a contract year to accommodate a 32 year old coming off of 1 good season

I’d argue his skill set is significantly more in line with a winger. His defense is replacement level and he’s very poor in the dot. He can exit the zone at wing too

Kadri’s defense has been replacement level or worse for most of his career. Skating/elite playmaking/elite vision/above average puck skills are 4 of the more important to the center position than faceoffs.

Avs were one of the worst teams in the league at faceoffs last season, should they move Nathan Mackinnon to the wing?

If they signed a defensively capable top line center who represents improvement at faceoffs then yes Mackinnon would probably be the one to move to the wing. However they’re short on centers so that won’t be happening

This idea is fine, as the Avs contantly rotate C and W on the same line. Landeskog will take LH faceoffs with Nate doing RH. Mikko takes draws. Also, Naz probably gets kicked out of more faceoffs than anyone ever, just bc Tim Peel and the rest of the zebras hate him. C and W are always switching on the fly

That would never happen , because Mackinnon Is a true center and is good enough defensively despite sucking at faceoffs

Barzal is not moving to W, and would not nearly be as effective there.

The argument about D-Zone face offs is not needed, why would you bother putting him out there in a D-Zone faceoff when you have Czizkas and Pageau who are both very good at faceoffs and D.

If Kadri came in it would be possible that Nelson moves to W, although I do not think that is a great move for him.

He’s in the 10th percentile of defense.

In a 3 year sample he was roughly average defensively
