VAN would probably consider a Severson and Garland swap, however they don't need Tatar and his cap hit.

We do if it gets us out of 3 yrs of Poolman. And lets be honest Severson is much more valuable especially to Van than Garland is.

Severson is a pending UFA. Unless the Canucks can extend him for cheap, it’s probably not worth giving up Garland

I see what you did there for Anaheim, only owed 750 in real money, I like where you are going with this. However, you are having to move him out for cap space and he is on an expiring contract, so I think Anaheim paying a third is too high.

His age is alright for us, but he basically fills the same role as Frank Vatrano, so not sure he has a spot going forward on the team.

Well he wont come cheap but yes an extension would be key. That said ridding ourselves of Poolman would be worth it.

That entirely depends on what a Severson extension looks like

We'd be moving 7.5 million out. Pretty sure we could get him well under that mark.

I'd want a Severson extension to come in at an AAV below 6 million for sure

Anything more than future considerations gets it done, there should be multiple teams interested but he has a 10 team NTC

My guess....7 years x $6.5 million (Justin Faulk's contract).

Why include Poolman and Tatar if they are not needed. Just Severson for winger.

Where would you put Tatar in the lineup? I suppose you could trade Wood instead and put him on the fourth line, but you still have a hole at 3RD and you're in a bind if Bernier comes off LTIR. Swapping Tatar and Poolman helps both teams get rid of unfortunate contracts. Vancouver takes on the Tatar contract for a year in exchange for the Devils dealing with Poolman in the longer term. Tatar is an acceptable Garland replacement for a year, and Poolman fills a hole on RD and is traded again or bought out when Nemec is ready.

Wood may start year on LTIR. He could play there to start. But easier to find a spot for him for this season that having Poolman clog up the pipeline.

Siegs, Dougie, Graves, Marino are locks for minutes (if Severson is moved). Over the next couple of years, the pipeline that is expected to arrive and compete for spots…(and my guess on ETA of when they will be up for full-time NHL role)

Walsh (start of 2022-23)
Bahl (mid 2022-23)
Okhotiuk (mid 2022-23)
Nemec (mid 2022-23)
Hughes (late 2022-23)
Mukhamadullin (early 2023-24)
Misyul (mid 2023-24)
Edwards (late 2023-24)
McCarthy (late 2023-24)
Vilen (early 2024-25)
Casey (late 2024-25)
Leddy (late 2024-25)

Poolman has three years left. Just leave him in Vancouver.

Awfully optimistic. I wouldn't hold my breath on two thirds of those guys ever being NHL players.

I listed a dozen guys for two spots. I am not expecting all of them to play NHL, but I am excepting a handful of them to make it.

In the order of likelihood to play regular NHL minutes:

Hughes
Nemec
Mukhamadullin

Okhotiuk
Casey
Walsh
Bahl
Edwards

(Leddy, Misyul, McCarthy, Vilen, etc)
