Canucks pass, they aren't giving up a promising young player and their 1st round pick in a deep draft for a defenseman who is at best 2nd pair caliber and is coming off a down year
Juiceman, majormoose007, PeterForsberg21 and 1 other person liked this.

Isles can’t afford to add Wheeler without moving salary. I like the fit tho. I could c him on the 2nd line with Lee and Nelson.

Canucks are in no position to be trading a first, especially the 2023 first. Pionk is good but we aren’t trading a first and Hoglander for him

Hawks pass. You're just giving them homework assignments. If you think Dillon can get what Chiarot got...go get it and send it.

Jets need to move Dillon before the year starts to make room on their left side, but he’s more valuable at the deadline. He’s pretty much just a better, cheaper Chiarot/Gudbranson, and it boggles me he hasn’t been traded yet.

You’re getting back a second so you’re pretty much just moving back, but yeah probably a little overzealous there tbh. Just trying to replace the first we give up in the Chychrun deal.

According to the site you guys have like $11M in cap space with just a couple guys to sign, do you not think you can fit $4.125M?

Have you considered the caliber of players those two unsigned RFA's are and how much money they'll likely command?

Why not keep Dillon and get a Chiarot style return instead of trading for Toews. Why would we trade for Toews if we are planning on selling at the TDL?

Can we buyout Wheeler after Apples arbitration/signing? Does that open another window? Can’t see Chipman eating 4M+ for 2 years to only get a 4th back.

Yeah I may have been getting overzealous by going after the pick, that said, Second pair RHD on manageable contracts don’t grow on trees. I think you have to give up a little more than you like to get a player like that.

It won't be for a package like that, at least not from the Canucks

This isn’t a “selling at the deadline” trade. It’s to open space on the left side. Also, you have the eat $4M+ on a buyout but you get nothing back, so I don’t understand the buyout arguments I’ve been seeing.

Islanders reject I don’t think I’d take take wheeler at 2 million but honestly jets shouldn’t do that either 4 million retained for 2 years for a 4th is dumb

Dobson + Romanov could cost 8 million. 2.5 for Romanov and 5.5 for Dobson. Then you have to factor in Bellows and other depth players like Salo and Hutton being called up.

A Lee-Nelson-Wheeler line could be a force to be reckoned with lol.
