Islanders have no incentive to do this. It makes their roster and their cap situation significantly worse. Hard pass.

No reason for Vancouver to agree to this either. This is a truly terrible deal for them.

I just thought that Nelson was worth around a 1st and that Reimer+Gregor+a 4th is close to that. We can keep Simek too.

No they aren’t worth a first.

Edit: They aren’t even worth a 2nd***

I wasn't really sure what to do exactly but I feel like an EK65 trade to Vancouver for Myers with potentially some other pieces could work. How much more retention or how much more added?

Dude u want to send Kevin Labanc back in the deal. Isles have no reason to trade Nelson anyway. Even if they signed Kadri, and I don’t know that they will, it doesn’t make sense to move him. Especially considering the fact Kadri probably isn’t the better player. He just played with an elite team last year.

They don’t have cap issues to the extent ur describing rn. If they move Monahan it will be in a deal where they acquire a win now player from a rebuilding team.

well Reimer is worth a 2nd and I feel Gregor is pretty underrated. Very fast skater and just turned 24 today. Could be a very cheap 3rd line winger who could get 30-40+ points at less than 2 million. Still probably not quite equal to a first in value but really close imo. I could change the 4th to a 3rd.

Not remotely close cause Gregor hasn’t done anything in the league. A third line winger isn’t worth a second line center who is elite on the power play. Reimer isn’t worth a second in this market either.

Cap space for what? Kadri doesn't want to go to Calgary and there is no better centers on the market than Monahan

If the isles traded a center it wouldn’t be Nelson. He’s worth a lot to them and would be worth a lot to a contender if he was ever made available. I don’t c a world in which the isles deal him tho and this trade is basically cap dumps, c level prospects and Reimer for Nelson. Ur way off base here.

I could c Calgary targeting Toews at 50% retention like u said yesterday. That being said I would try and get Henrique at 50% retention first.

Based on what lol. No he isn’t he’s a 34 year old backup. He’s not a Varlamov level goalie. It’s debatable if he’s better than Georgiev even!

Dude all ur trades r significantly biased in favor of the sharks. I’m not saying that to be a dick. I am just trying to be honest with you here.

He was our starter this season and was over .910. Played almost 50 games. I know he's not Varlamov level but he's a lot cheaper and Sorokin can start.

He’s not a worth a second tho is the issue. And even if he was a veteran backup doesn’t get you a top six center like Nelson. Nelson has been a very underrated player for a very long time. Dude scored at an insane clip this year cause him and Barzal clicked on the power play with Dobson. He’s a really good player in his own right tho and has always been a very efficient scorer. You can’t trade a bag of blue pucks for him.

I admit the EK trade was kinda just a guess but I feel like the other two are fair in value. I understand if you want to keep Nelson and that's fine but I think the value is pretty good. I also thinking taking Monahan who's been only a 30 pt player the past 2 seasons and making plus 6 million for a 2nd and only 1 in retention is good for Calgary.

The value in a Nelson trade is terrible. If you think he’s worth a first than that’s what you should offer. Don’t offer a mediocre prospect, a cap dump like Labanc, a backup like Reimer and a 4th round pick for him. You know that isn’t fair. Don’t pretend it isn’t.

Defeats the purpose of the deal if Calgary retains. Maybe a 2nd and Monahan for Bonino at 50% retained. Idk.

why give up nelson for a package whose primary asset is a backup goaltender? we’re more than set in that position. it just doesn’t fit what our needs are at all.
