That's just a bad take; there is not one coach or scout that would say Jones isn't very good. Jones is very good, he's just $2M overpaid. The two are mutually exclusive but fans sometimes don't think so as evidence of your comment.

While similar players, do you really think Nurse is as good as Jones? I don't think they are that far off from one another but I don't think Nurse is quite as good as Jones. That said, this is a big overpay no doubt.

That’s how I feel but struggled with getting the value right, I also feel like Jones would benefit tremendously playing with McDavid and If I significantly shaved the value off and Just Had Nurse(with nothing retrained) and Puljujarvi would that be enough or would that still not be sweet enough for the Hawks rebuild?

LMAO, you think Jones is only a top 4 dman? He's easily a top 50 dman in the league and out of 32 teams, that's 64 dmen on the top line. Add to it that RHD are in shorter supply. He's a top 20 right hand guy in the league without question, top 50 d man overall. If you are referring to his advanced stats, yes they aren't top 50 but he's been paired up with some pretty crappy partners. If you watch him enough and have eyes for hockey, there is no denying he's a special player. Pair him up with an average 1st line LHD man in the league and he would be in the top 20 conversation.

Is he paid too much, of course by about $2M give or take $500K, but if he was on a $7.5M contract, there would be 20 teams wanting him. Nobody wants him at full cap hit and futhermore, there is zero evidence that chicago even tried trading him...I follow every analyst, podcast and media personality that covers Chicago and nowhere is there any insider report that Chicago tried trading him. I never called him "elite", elite players are top 10 at their position and Jones is not that, but he's certainly a top 50 on D and top 20 on the right. He's definitely not "brutal" defensively either. Werenski and he didn't work together, but then look his advanced stats in Chicago playing with a cast of characters mostly 3rd line guys and he was really good. If you watch him, you'd also notice he was really good and this is coming from someone who was probably the most critical when we acquired him. So you're wrong about him being a top 4 guy, you're also wrong about him being shopped and you're wrong about him being horrible defensively...it's okay though, you probably only watch him a couple times a year.
