Double edged sword here. Either the Devils aren't really contenders so Kane says no thanks or they are contenders and the first is a late one in which case jersey has to add a good prospect

NJ is most likely playoff bound and poised to do pretty well in the eastern conference. With all the offense Kane brings they would most likely finish somewhere in the top of the standings. A late 1st and then a 2nd and a 4th the following year for Kane with 50% retention seems VERY light to me. But then again, we all saw the DeBrincat deal. If Davidson continues to be a weak trade negotiator, I wouldn't put it passed him to make a deal like that.
