What Pens have to give Vegas NOT to draft Murray

Description
There is excellent change that no team that would trade for Fleury that Fleury would be acceptable to agreeing waive his NMC. Pens would prefer not buyout of 1.97 for 4 years.
So Pens and Vegas make a deal where Vegas does NOT select the exposed Murray. Pens keep Murray and Fleury. The debate what is the sweetener for Vegas not to select Murray. I've selected Sheary and Jarry

Right on the money. They need to fork over something worth while. Vegas can easily just say no and take Murray. Pens would be in trouble.

I am not exactly sure how this whole compensation will work (ie those that include trades), but as @cchmiel93 mentioned, Connor Shary is ineligible and I am not sure the NHL has made it clear if teams are allowed to un-exempt them. From how I've read the process, Vegas will need to make a selection from each and every team. Where a team sends a draft pick as some sort of comp, I don't believe that's a problem, but sending a player plus an exempt player as some kind of trade plus selection, I am not sure how that will work. From what I gather solely from media reports, as soon as the Pens finish their playoff run, whenever that will be, Fleury will be asked to waive his NMC clause so the Pens can hopefully facilitate something, quickly.

What happened to Dumoulin? Bengtsson has been fighting Lyme Disease and has barely played all year, the odds of him stepping into a NHL role next year are next to none.

Thanks for showing that Sheary is exempt. I did the roster kinda just to show how tight the Pens are to the cap with Fleury and even without Fleury the buyout is close to 2m for four years.
In the previous months we have many posts showing Fleury traded (I'm not sure that many teams can accommodate him) and teams who I think Fleury would have no interest in playing for. So the other alternative besides the buyout is make the deal with Vegas....not to draft Murray.

Fleury will get moved. The Pens don't have the cap to retain them both next year.

As for the buyout... It's a possibility. However, wouldn't it make more sense for the Pens to shop Fleury with $2 million retained? Then they only take the $2 million cap hit for 2 years, rather than 4. You can't tell me some goalie-lacking team (especially Calgary) wouldn't be interested in a goalie of Fleury's caliber for 3.25 million for 2 years. I could see the Pens getting a bottom 6 player or a second in return there... Nothing huge, but better than buying him out for nothing or losing Jarry.

Worst case scenario in the buyout option though is nearly 4 mill in cap space for 2 more years during what is a limited window for Cup runs. Very good chance that the cap would raise enough to even out the 1.9 and change anyway after the 3rd year year. Still think you need to share what you are smoking if you think in any situation that they move Jarry for a 7th rounder.
