Leafs pass on this, as much as I love the wild and the leafs, I don’t think leaf’s are gonna take 3 million cap in. We have other problems. To sign sandin or possibly make some "big trade as they say”

If you get kerfoot he’s gotta be on the third or second line. He’s a middle top 6 forward, not a 4th liner

Just with them being the only team reportedly in on Dumba, every time I make an ACGM, I include this exact trade or sub the first with Knies

I also don’t think Stephenson is the greatest option. He’s a great player and underrated but i think wild is trying to trade for a really good or top 6 forward. Imo Stephenson is like a middle top 6 forward

Leafs in dumba? Never seen a report about that. Also keafs aren’t trading a first and knies which is the top prospect for dumba

I've always been a fan of him, and especially his contract, when the VGK brought in Eichel last year, you could see this cap crunch coming and I thought the wild should swoop in then with like Beckman and a first, now with them giving away players, you actually give them some pieces in return, I would think it would be hard for them to say no.

I mean I think he could fit in but maybe on the second line, but the first line could work perhaps

Here is a link to the podcast where it is discussed, given it is from the Wild beat writer, but with all due respect, he doesn't report anything until he knows it as fact.

There is no way Vegas gives up on Stephenson. He’s on one of the best value contracts in the league.

He is the 2nd most expensive contract that doesnt have no move protection and they are over the cap with 16 players on the roster, something has to give.

It’s Vegas. You move someone with no move protection and then find out later

FWIW he isn't saying the Leafs are "in" on Dumba, just that they have had interest in the past and they could still have interest. I wouldn't call this a report or anything, though historically Russo hasn't said speculative stuff like this without knowing something. Basically it's an interesting nugget, but it's not like the Leafs are hot in pursuit of Dumba or anything.

Vegas actually has enough cap space to sign everyone with Weber and Patrick, and maybe Brossoit, going on LTIR. Also, as stated earlier, Stephenson would not be the player moved for space anyway. That would probably be Martinez or Karlsson, although that is, also, probably unlikely for this year.

A team has to be cap compliant without any players on LTIR from other rosters as of the beginning of the season, so Weber has to be activated prior to the beginning of the season and then can be placed on LTIR. As for players from their own roster, they can go straight onto LTIR, however, when acquiring a player that is going onto LTIR, you must activate them prior to placing on LTIR.

I don't know where you got that from. LTIR is absolutely possible in the off-season. You can read the rules in the LTIR FAQ in the CBA portion of this website. I'm pretty sure you can use recent examples to prove this wrong too. Didn't Montreal start way over the cap at the beginning of last season with Price on LTIR. Also, the exact same thing is happening with the Lightning this season, and past, with Seabrook. I don't know where you heard this rule but it's just not true.

Tampa had the cap space to activate Seabrook for 1 day, and then moved him to LTIR. As for Price, he was a member of their roster? I can keep saying it, but you cannot simply just go acquire someone for cap space.
