Vegas Trade
Martinez and Roy are really solid players that the Knights aren't looking to move unless they really need to, which they probably won't. Also, I would rather have Roy than Garland at their respective cap hits.

Wooo
Vegas never does this. Roy is underperforming a bit in points but the 4th line has been dominant at points in the season. Carrier is literally having the best season of his career. Roy also just signed a huge, team friendly, extension so he really isn't going anywhere. Why wouldn't they just upgrade the 3rd line LW instead of dumping 2/3rds of their solid 4th line? Especially not for Kapanen.

deadline moves
I actually think this is downgrading the Knights on both trades. Martinez is the #1 shot blocker in the league and a very good defensive defenseman. I think that trade might hurt both teams. I also know Kessel has struggled this season but Puljujarvi has struggled even more and is on a worse contract. I like the idea of trying to upgrade the 3rd line though.

He's playing really well right now. He's leading the league in blocked shots by a wide margin. I'd rather have Martinez over Karlsson, on these contracts, on my team by a mile.

I'm pretty confused. This is widely regarded as one of the worst contracts in the league. The Sharks would need to retain half the salary to have a chance of moving Karlsson. Also, the Vegas blue line is extremely solid. They really don't need any blue line support for the next couple of years. This trade would be disastrous for the Knights.

Vegas really doesn't need blue line at all for the next couple years. The blue line they have now is super solid and they have some promising prospects on the way.

Theodore
This is like the Knights offering Hague, Patera, Diliberatore, Cotter, and a couple of seconds for Pettersson with 2m retention. Theodore is, arguably, a top 10 dman on an excellent contract with term. He's not going anywhere unless a star is coming back.

Short term guys. Each should hit waivers.</div></div>
Sharks also have to choose between Reimer and Hill unless they want to carry 3 goalies.

I can see him going anywhere between 1 and 2 mil but I also think it's going to be on the lower end. I could absolutely be wrong about this, though. I just assume that, the longer he stays unsigned, the lower his contract will be.

They had leverage because of the cap situation. Just like how OTT had to pay to get rid of Murray. NHL teams don't share your righteous indignation.

Thompson has serious potential. He looked really good at the end of last season. They might still go out and get someone but there is a lot of optimism about LT.

If they can ship Brossoit out, why would they need more space? They don't really need too much more space even without shipping him out. Some league min deals on the 3rd line and they are set.

Vegas
It's looking like Patrick will be on LTIR for the season and the Knights are already loaded on D. They would much rather sign Hague, who will get a similar deal to Bear but with longer term. I also don't get the Aston-Reese signing. I think they would rather go with Manninen, a 30 yo KHLer they signed to a league min who has potential, or a prospect like Brisson.

Amadio will probably be a scratch. Brisson will probably be in his place. That depth has potential to be very good and they can upgrade whatever piece isn't working at the deadline. I think recency bias is really making people undervalue Vegas.

Vegas won't retain on any cap dumps. Patrick is probably going to be out for the season and Brossoit probably starts a good chuck of the season on LTIR.

How many more players do they have to give up
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>User123409871234</b></div><div>A team has to be cap compliant without any players on LTIR from other rosters as of the beginning of the season, so Weber has to be activated prior to the beginning of the season and then can be placed on LTIR. As for players from their own roster, they can go straight onto LTIR, however, when acquiring a player that is going onto LTIR, you must activate them prior to placing on LTIR.</div></div>
I don't know where you got that from. LTIR is absolutely possible in the off-season. You can read the rules in the LTIR FAQ in the CBA portion of this website. I'm pretty sure you can use recent examples to prove this wrong too. Didn't Montreal start way over the cap at the beginning of last season with Price on LTIR. Also, the exact same thing is happening with the Lightning this season, and past, with Seabrook. I don't know where you heard this rule but it's just not true.

Vegas actually has enough cap space to sign everyone with Weber and Patrick, and maybe Brossoit, going on LTIR. Also, as stated earlier, Stephenson would not be the player moved for space anyway. That would probably be Martinez or Karlsson, although that is, also, probably unlikely for this year.

The Knights currently fit under the cap. They actually have a lot of room because Weber, Patrick, and (maybe) Brossoit are LTIR.

Unless if they are trading Bratt, which I really doubt, Theodore to Jersey isn't even considered. They also just resigned Howden so he's not on the trade block either.
