If keeping Theodore meant losing one of Roy or Hague, I'd simply allow it to happen, or move someone else to make the additional space required.

It seems the only team helping another team with their cap space is Anaheim taking Johnsson.

After Bratt and Wood get re-signed Vegas has more cap space than NJ has. Every team trading a player for cap space has paid, not received, compensation.

Seems like overkill for what the Devils need. This year it makes the team better, but losing one of their better wingers just to put one of Hughes, Sieg or Theodore on the 3rd pairing next year doesn't seem like good team management.

Hughes still hasn’t played a game yet and as much as he looks like he can come in and tear it up, a year on the 3rd pairing could help him get used to the speed of the NHL. And while the top 6 definitely takes a hit we have a ton of expiring contracts that are ready to walk and a bug UFA winger market opening next year.

You’re not getting anything back for Johnsson lol. He’s not a negative asset and if anything the team can just send his sorry ass to the minors for like 1.5mil in relief if it came to that. Bottom line your not getting an asset to take Johnsson. Maybe a 7th, maybe FC, but 0 chance youre getting a pick for him

Unless if they are trading Bratt, which I really doubt, Theodore to Jersey isn't even considered. They also just resigned Howden so he's not on the trade block either.
