Description
Matthews is going to walk as a FA after 2 seasons anyways. Why not trade him for the absolute max value you can get now and retool it? Thing are obviously not working so try shake up a winning culture. Perfect cap balance for both sides as well.

Matthews will sign in Arizona in 2 years if there is any improvement down there between now and his free agency year. If AZ is still a tire fire then he might stay in TO but I doub it. Taxes alone are enough reason to leave.

I mean it doesn’t cause they r taking on all that dead weight. Trading Sorokin for Mathews defeats the purpose. I didn’t even say Barzal wouldn’t be moved. I said Pelech has a NTC and they r taking back literal garbage.

No, they are good points and probably true in both cases. It's just funny because you're only defense of the obvious inevitability is that "oh it'll happen to your team too". Like ok, sure. Doesn't change the fact that your team is destined to lose its best player in 2 years hahahah
