I can tell you without absolute certainty the isles wouldn’t make any trade listed above.

    Overpaid to move Bailey.

Overpaid to move Beau for Brannstrom even tho they are set on the blue line.

Overpaid to trade Varly for Filip Zadina. What?

But why would Ny want to trade a first for Filip Zadina and Nedeljkovic? I like Nedeljkovic but he doesn’t fill a need. And zadina hasn’t done anything at the nhl level to warrant that return. Meanwhile Varly is the best player in the trade and they r moving a first to deal him.

For Bailey, he still has 2 yrs. left at 5 mil. per, you're going to have to overpay to move a contract like that.

For Beau, we aren't as set on the blue line as you think we are. We have a hole on the 3rd pair left side and I don't really trust Salo or Aho to step in Full-TIme, plus they aren't known for their offensive ability or play driving like Dobson. Also, Milano is a better version of what we thought Beau was going to be.

For the Varly trade, Zadina has been struggling to produce at a consistent level (I know he's only 22 and has the room to improve), but playing him on the 4th line at times in Detroit is detrimental to a young player's development. Plus, we get a better back-up for Sorkin and a young, dynamic, offense producing forward, which is something we need desperately considering that the Isles are one of the top 5 oldest teams in the league.

And even if the Isles don't or won't make these trades, the reasoning behind them is 100% sound.

I guess you don't know how Lou operates. He has the ability to do that. Taking a player, who might be worth more that that on the open market, and reducing the contract value and length to make sure that they stay an Islander(Barzal is a good example. I thought that he was going to get his 8 year two years ago, but got a bridge deal to make sure he stayed on the island). Also, the same thing happened to both Pelech and Pulock. They started out on their ELC, took a bridge deal or two that took them to 26, then signed their 8 year contract. All par for the course.

You're 1) Paying to first to move Varly(granted he has one yr left, but at 5 mil.), and 2) get a better back up for Sorokin AND paying for the potential that Zadina will rebound in a far better environment. Also
the Isles get a young, dynamic forward, which we sorely need, since the team is in the top 5 oldest teams in the league.

Totally understandable, but Cossa is a year or two away from just even cracking the AHL roster. Goalies' development cycle is very different from regular skaters. They just start to get good around 26/27 and may only get consistent starts around 24/25, so having Varly there makes their goaltending situation, at least for just this year, more stable. Also, you should be rushing goalies into a position that they shouldn't be in. Plus, I wouldn't put all my trust in Husso just yet, as he just broke out as a potential starter last year and can heavily regress over the length of his contract or even just this year. Look at what Detroit did to Ned. He was solid in Carolina but regressed in Detroit(I know that Carolina's defense was godly compared to Detroit's but still).

There's no way he reduces it to 4x4 though. Barzal got 7 million and there is no way Dobson takes just over half of that, no matter how good Lou is with the market

Nedeljkovic isn’t better and he’s a pending UFA. Also calling zadina dynamic is hysterical.

I do agree but wouldn't that be a better to ask the Islanders fan who posted this ACGM?

Ok but Ned requested the trade to Detroit so it makes sense at this point to keep him. He was still considered a rookie last season and he went from 23 games on a good team to playing 59 games on a bad team. He played that many games because Greiss was even worse than him and in the really bad losses the goaltending was far from the only reason they lost those games. Since Detroit isn't a playoff team yet why in the world they trade for a 34 year old goalie. Why would NYI give up a 1st for Ned and Zadina?

No this one is my fault he did say Detroit declines but he also said it's not terrible. So I apologize for the mix up.
