I can tell you without absolute certainty the isles wouldn’t make any trade listed above.
Overpaid to move Bailey.
Overpaid to move Beau for Brannstrom even tho they are set on the blue line.
Overpaid to trade Varly for Filip Zadina. What?
For Bailey, he still has 2 yrs. left at 5 mil. per, you're going to have to overpay to move a contract like that.
For Beau, we aren't as set on the blue line as you think we are. We have a hole on the 3rd pair left side and I don't really trust Salo or Aho to step in Full-TIme, plus they aren't known for their offensive ability or play driving like Dobson. Also, Milano is a better version of what we thought Beau was going to be.
For the Varly trade, Zadina has been struggling to produce at a consistent level (I know he's only 22 and has the room to improve), but playing him on the 4th line at times in Detroit is detrimental to a young player's development. Plus, we get a better back-up for Sorkin and a young, dynamic, offense producing forward, which is something we need desperately considering that the Isles are one of the top 5 oldest teams in the league.
And even if the Isles don't or won't make these trades, the reasoning behind them is 100% sound.
