In 2018 and 2019 the Americans have the advantage, but I wouldn't say it's a trend. It looks like 2020 and 21 will favor the Canadians, with Owen Power looking like a Pronger / Hedman type stud.

Way too soon to talk about 2022, but Canada had 5 of the top 12 picks and 9 first rounders overall, besting the USA who had 2 in the top 12 (plus #13 & 14) and 7 in the first round.

2023 has Bedard and Fantilli for Canada. One guy is considered a generational talent and the other is closing in on that label. Not to mention Ritchie, Yager, Wood, Allen, Benson and Barlow - a group that will collectively erase any advantage USA had from the 2018 and 2019 drafts mentioned above.

That's just the wording, what I meant is that there seems to be a bigger influx of high-end American talents than Canadian in recent drafts, 2020 being the exception and 2022 still in the air.

In addition to my comments about 2023 above, 2024 is looking like another watershed draft for Canada.

Americans have caught up to Canada in terms of player development, and it doesn't help that Canadian youth hockey culture is a mess and has definitely hindered development of a ton of players.

And that really worries me, while we are looking at nuking Hockey Canada they are producing the best generation of talent they’ve ever had
