Oh, there are Devil fans that will find any way to complain about Fitz. They are cry babies that are upset we haven't been competitive in a decade and put it all on him. Has ne been perfect? No. I would point to the Stillman and Muk drafts....but there are ones that call the team cheap (even as they now are capped out) and complain when any other move happens the Devils had no shot at as they didn't have similar resources or it was a player on a NTC that could easily be listing a last place team on where not to go.

As far as Bratt, it'll be tough to convince me it was Fitz's fault it didn't have term. He said he offered term...there are reports to go along with it. He's given term to Hughes and Siegenthaler since...Bratt is the only one that has been such a struggle to sign. If anything, he wanted $8mx6-8yrs and the Devils didn't feel he was worth that off one good year so they wanted to see him do it again.

Yeah imo the one year deal is actually good for both the team and bratt because it allows bratt to prove he’s worth the money if he can keep up or even improve from last season.

With miller I would not be opposed to trading him for this coming season but I’m against signing him long term. He’s probably not gonna settle for 8x5 but who knows. I’d rather keep that money available for up and coming guys like holtz Hughes Mercer Nemec etc.

The teams willing to sign the extension would pay more than those unwilling obviously, so I do not see NJ as a match. I also do not expect to be in the playoff contention, but maybe on the outside where we see growth but still enough out to have the excuse to trade Severson, Graves, Wood, Haula and cash in once more.

My only complaint about the off-season thus far has been Vanecek move.
I thought there would better options for our most important need.
Hopefully all works out.
