The concept is flawed. The Bruins are at the end of their window, trying to keep going could turn them into the 2015 Devils.

That Barzal trade cripples your ability to rebuild when that time actually comes, and the Barzal contract makes it impossible to keep your star players around. You have among the most barren prospect pools in the league, so you have no ELC players that can come up and replace the ones you can't pay. This is a flaming tire fire as soon as the summer of 2024, when you lose one or both of Hall and Marchand because you can't pay them, and then you still have no firsts for two years. The Bruins have two years to pull off a run; the future should be the top priority no later than 2024.

Edit: my timeline is off, this is a tire fire in 2025. the rest of my point still stands.

If they can extend Pasta, I’d expect Bergy and /or Krejci to go for one more year, and then you hope that Beecher/studs take a leap forward (Studs played well at 2C remember… 2 more years of his hard work and more strength, he’ll definitely take the 2C).
