Why would Montreal trade for Dubois?

To guarantee he goes there. Don’t forget all of the other players who were fans of montreal as kids who never wound up playing there. He wants to be there so trade for him to get him.

The cost wouldnt be their best defensive prospect and a unprotected 1st.

And the salary cap wont be that high in 2024, Perhaps by 2025 the salary cap could increase by as much as $8 million.

It’s pretty clear he wants to play there. No reason for them to give up a first in a stacked class when they’re rebuilding for a player that they’re probably getting anyways when they start to contend

So what he wants to play there? You can’t say they’re probably getting a player two years from now. I say arizona is getting Matthew’s in two years for jokes but I’m serious when I say Matthew’s is likely leaving. Does PLD want to play in MTL? Yes. Does that mean they are “probably getting him”? No. Most illogical thing fans do here is to say one player is going to be with them in two years. Hell philly fans and jersey fans were saying guadreau would go to them for months before hand and he went to neither. Cant say somebody will probably be going to them 2 years out.

So you think it is more likely to go up by 8m in 3 years than 5m in 2 years? You do realize one is an average increase of of 2.6m per year and the other is an average increase of 2.5m

The only reason the Dubois to Montreal rumours even started was because he apparently wants to go there. Montreal has no need to acquire him

Habs have top 10 prospect pool, and Guhle would be #2 on it after Slaf. And i seriously doubt you could name 20 defensive prospect better than him
