Vancouver fans are not going to like this. If you took Hoglander out it'd be about right for rental Miller but Vancouver fans still won't agree.

I am a Vancouver fan. This trade was based off of what CBJ has valued their players at on acgms. Ceulemens could be a great future pairing for Hughes and peeke adds to our week right side nicely. 1st is almost mandatory at this point in a Miller trade, and CBJ gets Hog as insurance if Miller walks to FA

Not the perfect trade, but I think the value is there

Peeke can't get moved unless a RD comes back the other way, but Jake bean could be subbed in.

This is actually a pretty good trade for both teams but as stated above , Canucks fans won't like it. The ones I've talked to say bundle miller up like Huberbeau was and get a star young gun....not sure Columbus has that quite yet though.

Yeah that’s what I thought too. Could see this being more of a deadline deal as well. Maybe if Van is getting bean instead of Peeke for that right side then a different player would go back instead of Hoglander.

Maybe even go deeper and throw in someone like Poolman or Schenn to fill peekes spot (although I wouldn’t wanna give up Schenn) and CBJ adds another pick or prospect.

Please Canucks fans, acknowledge that acquiring and re-signing Miller would cost the Jackets double the proposals you're making. Since they signed and re-signed Gaudreau and Laine, they do not have the cap space for another 8+ mil contract. They would end up trading away half their top prospects and 2 1sts just to get Miller and make enough room to re-sign him. That or they would have to make more trades like the Bjorkstrand one that sees them losing great players for pretty much nothing just to get cap space. Does that actually sound reasonable to any of you? It's an insane investment and would destroy the Jackets future they have been working on building. They have zero pressure to win now, think about teams that are currently at their peak and expect to be cup contenders this year if you want to get a solid return for a rental. The Jackets ain't it no matter how badly you want their RD prospects.

I see what you mean but in this scenario the jackets aren’t giving up their top tier prospects plus 2 firsts. Ceulemens is a great prospect and that 1 first is valuable, but I wasn’t asking for Johnson, Boqvist +. Are you saying that I asked for too little and cbj wouldn’t be able to afford the actual price?

Also you’ll have Voracek coming off the books soon enough if the team can stay cap compliant until then.

I'm saying that between the price of acquisition and the price to make space to re-sign Miller, they are trading away FAR too much of their future. One player is not worth two top prospects, two 1sts, and two roster players unless they're a top 5 NHLer. Miller isn't that.
