Description

Highly doubt this happens but fun to think about. He didn't look out of place at the worlds a few months ago playing with Barzal and they had amazing chemistry. Gaudreau plays a similar style so could be a great fit.

Defensively it could look rough though haha

While I think it's tempting to try Johnson in that 1C spot I don't think it would work long term. That's a lot of skill but nobody to do the dirty work like digging pucks out of the corners or standing in front the net screening the goalie or digging for rebounds. As much as we may not like it I think Jenner starts the year between Gaudreau and Laine just because he brings a certain skillset the other possible centers don't have.

This. I suspect if it's not Jenner up there it's going to be one of Sillinger or Texier - not because of raw talent, but because of orthogonal skills.

Sillinger between Laine and Gaudreau, Johnson between Texier and Marchenko. Maybe not this season, but eventually.
