Acciari is protection for Monahan injuries. In the event of an injury, Dach & Evans move up, Acciari moves one to the left at the middle, and Pezzetta or Ylonen move in. Healthy, it's a solid roster, and despite shelling out on some pretty big prospects, there's still the core pool left.

Not sure about any of the other trades but that first deal should work great for Van

Ok, I edited it so that the Avs trade up to get a valuable 2023 4th, & lose a 2025 5th. They gain $450,000 in cap, while filling in a needed role. Dvorak isn't injury prone, and he is sure to produce more with talented wingers beside him. Byram has grown considerably, and can take over Girard's role.

Rather hold onto Girard if that's the best offer.

When Mack wants more money in 2 years, what's the better contact to trade? 1 year left on Dvorak, or 4 years on Girard? I'll add a prospect, and move the pick lower.

4 years on Girard obviously. He has more value now and will have more value then. Prospects and low picks aren't relevant. Quality over quantity. The Avs would likely only trade Girard if they're acquiring a genuine 2C. Dvorak isn't one and the rest is essentially irrelevant to the Avs as they're in 'win now' mode. MacKinnon's contract is covered by EJ's money anyway. No need to trade Girard for that.

Easy no from Edmonton. Anderson is a cap dump, you aren't getting a quality young player back for him. The rest of that offer is just a bunch of useless stuff.

I'm literally going off of rumors from NHL sources. Anderson's value is high, and he'll get traded for a big return

What other 2Cs are on the trade market? I haven't heard of many if not any with low cap hits for a low price. There's Henrique, Dowd, Laughton. Dowd might be the most realistic but hes quite pricey. Signing Mack with Johnson's extra cap will lose you Francouz and Toews the year after. Newhook needs a new salary, so will Compher and Byram.

You don't move Girard for pennies on the dollar. You can move him when he has 3 years or 2 years on his deal even. His value is unlikely to drop much in that time. At worst it plateaus. The Avs can easily run with Rantanen/Landeskog/Compher at 2C if they wanted if Newhook doesn't work out. Whilst not ideal it's not like there is any desperation to trade Girard or acquire a 2C which I'll state again I don't believe Dvorak to be anyway. They can even run like that the whole season and look for a TDL signing if they think they need to, having accrued cap. Francouz likely wouldn't be returning then unless he's managed to take the starting job. Annuen would be expected to be ready by that point. I'm guessing following the Habs you are more familiar with their structure, prospects and pipeline etc than I would be and less so with the Avs. Compher I doubt is re-signed anyway. Helm and Cogliano will have gone. The Avs will likely go top heavy like the Lightning did and fill out the bottom 6 with vets similar to Cogliano & Helm who want a cup shot or ELCs The cap isn't as big an issue for the Avs as ppl seem to believe on here.

I wouldn't take him for free. He's not worth his $5.5M paycheck. In any case, the Oilers don't have a need for him nor the cap space to make such a deal. So it's a NO from Edmonton.

Would you take Edmundson as help on D? So Edmundson, Wideman, Xhekaj(really promising d prospect), Davidson(puts up points in OHL, and a 2nd for Pulujarvi and Foegele? Or would the trade need a forward as well?
