Created by: SimonSelaars3
Team: 2022-23 Minnesota Wild
Initial Creation Date: Aug. 19, 2022
Published: Aug. 19, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Barzal, Rossi, and Ek down the middle for the next decade? Sounds beautiful.

Add in Kaprizov and Boldy who hopefully will be here long term at wing along with prospects like Ohgren, Yurov, Khusnutdinov, Haight, Petrovsky, and Lorenz and you could have a real scary team.
Trades
1.
MIN
  1. Barzal, Mathew
Additional Details:
Idek if Lou will still have his job by the deadline but they are bound to start selling sometime soon
NYI
  1. Beckman, Adam
  2. Lambos, Carson
  3. 2023 1st round pick (MIN)
  4. 2024 1st round pick (MIN)
Additional Details:
I know it seems like a weird time to add a player like Barzal but Guerin would have contract control since he is still an RFA and if you can lock him up long term this would be a very scary team a couple years from now once our prospects start rolling into the NHL.
2.
MIN
OTT
  1. Dumba, Matt
Additional Details:
Idk where but he will get traded at the deadline and replaced by Faber after his season at the UofM

I understand Barzal is a center and pretty dam good too, but is he really worth two 1st and two really good prospects? I say this looking at the Fiala trade the Wild got a first and a good prospect for a winger that scored more points, I would be willing to give up the 24' 1st and the two prospects but not two 1sts maybe throw in a 3rd if Lou really played hardball. If that deal doesn't work then I hope BG stays the course and keeps our assets and keeps building through the draft then once the pain of the buyouts are done and the cap jumps up significantly then you could really make some trades as you would have plenty of assets to trade and lots of cap room.

You’re not getting Barzal without adding Yurov/Ohgren. He’s not available anyways. If they’re selling they aren’t getting rid of their best forward.

Barzal is still young enough to rebuild a team around. If the Islanders decide to tear it down, he's one of the handful that stay - 1Cs are very hard to find in this league and I can't see them flipping him out without getting a monster asset back. Not this is a bad package, but there's no real headliner in it - I'd rather get back a single pick and a higher caliber of prospect/young roster player if I was moving Barzal out.

Lambos is definitely a headliner!

I hate to break it to you but if you think Barzal has any interest in wasting his prime years away on a rebuilding team you’d probably be wrong. Would NYI want to keep him around? Sure. But the chances of him being willing to stick around is slim to none.

Say the Wild are somehow able to get Barzal. How do we resign him in? We are still in the middle of cap hell. With it going up by 2 million next year. Don’t get me wrong I would love Barzal with Kirill but he is going to want a raise and I just don’t know how we can afford him.
