five years of a cap dump = 5 1st rd picks

Gallagher is not a cap dump:

19-20 season 23 games missed
20-21 season 25 games missed
21-22 season 26 games missed

30 years old. 5 years left on a 6.5 mil aav contract. 7 goals last season. He's a cap dump.

B. Acquiring Edmundson wouldn’t allow LA to resign Durzi & Anderson.
C. Edmundson is coming off a bad season, I don’t think we’d offer a 2nd for him.
D. He’s never been healthy for a full season
E. His Advanced Stats last season have been Minus all across.

Well we would essentially lose out on both Anderson and Durzi for Edmundson. I just believe LA will look at a Top Pairing LD such as Chrychrun, Sanheim or maybe even Dunn.

It is a very sad day when Brendan Gallagher is a cap dump.

I cannot express how DUMB it would be to do the Gallagher trade.
1. We do not need cap space this year!
2. Wait and see how he plays.
- either he improves his play and gains some value
- either he continues playing like he has but at least burns a year of the contract
- maybe we don’t need the cap space next year either.

Any way you slice it, it is completely and utterly stupid to do a Gallagher trade of this nature. People are obsessed with cap space lol it’s crazy. Willing to give up anything for it even in years when you don’t need it!!

Los Angeles has roughly $3.9 million to re-sign both Mikey Anderson and Sean Durzi, each of whom is more important to us than Joel Edmundson if for no other reasons than that they're younger, they're cheaper, and we can sign them to longer contracts than Edmundson's current paper is. It will probably take all of that $3.9 million to re-sign them both; conversely, trading for Edmundson and his $3.5 million cap hit eliminates any chance we have of re-signing even one of Anderson or Durzi. No, thanks. We'll take 5 seasons or more of each of Anderson and Durzi over two seasons of Edmundson.

May bad….. Whitecloud now locked up at 2.75 for the next 6 years is huge for cap reasons and it wouldn’t be a good look for VGK trying to do better in the perception to immediately trade another player immediately on a new contract. Plus that value just isn’t good for vegas
