Playoff team

Created by: Devs17
Team: 2022-23 Seattle Kraken
Initial Creation Date: Aug. 28, 2022
Published: Aug. 28, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Yes a lot of moving parts. Most of them are rentals but no major assets are coughed up. Yes the season and deadline are unpredictable so who knows who pays what for Severson sanheim and toews services. Seattle needs two more solid top 4 defenseman to have a solid back end. Toews would be important because going into the playoffs with two rookies at 1C and 2C isn’t a resume for success but if toews can help out with draws and some tough minutes it could possibly be successful. I think this team can be right in the mix for a playoff spot and I think the management will push hard if theirs a chance due to how last season turned out

I like the Severson tarde. I don’t think the Karaken need to give up that many players for Toews. Also 50% RS no 30% RS.
Ni need to give up Kuhlman for Foegele.

? Soucy is a decent player and he's up at the end of the year. He also has a bit of experience playing on his off-hand. Taking him wouldn't end the deal for me.

But I can't see Fitz trading Severson before the deadline if it's mostly just picks coming back and this team really doesn't seem like a playoff team to me. So I doubt Seattle would trade their first at the deadline.

None of these trades makes sense and I will break down why
1. Severson for Soucy doesn't make sense as Soucy in my opinion is the krakens number 1 defenseman if you mentioned trading Vince Dunn and maybe a 2nd round id be interested but Soucy and a first is a massive overpay
2. Ty Nelson and Goyette show promise and both have high ceilings it wouldn't make sense trading them might as well hold on to them for a year or 2 and watch them develop. Like the idea of moving " Does nothing Dosnkoi " though
3. Donato showed promise and break out potential last season I was happy when Francis came around to resigning him and Kokko although we haven't seen much of his play has a lot of potential and our only real goalie prospect and recorded a shut out in his first game in the Liiga
4. I wouldn't give up on Kuhleman yet I liked how he played at the end of the year

I took this (trading Severson) as they are not looking to push for playoffs, as it's a clear downgrade. If that's the case, why give the minutes & cap space to a pending UFA who is not in your plans long term. At that point, better to give the minutes to a prospect that may help you down the line or increase their value like Walsh, Bahl, Okhotyuk or even Nemec (if he's ready, which is doubtful) ... They could also use that cap to aquire assets on a dump.
Just seems like a wasted opportunity to me taking Soucy. Just grab another pick or prospect
